Inter can finally compete again

An incredible summer transfer window and financial stability could see Inter back at the top at long last, explains Cronan Yu.

“Life beyond Cristiano Ronaldo is out there”, Italy’s Corriere dello Sport declared. It’s a headline that’s easy enough to print, of course, but in reality, many questioned whether such a scenario was plausible.

Pallotta: ‘Couldn’t reject Alisson bid’

Roma President James Pallotta says accepting Liverpool’s €72.5m Alisson bid was “a no-brainer”.

The goalkeeper has moved to Merseyside for a world record transfer fee, but some Giallorossi fans were unhappy he was allowed to go.

“In Alisson’s case, come on, let’s be serious,” Pallotta said on SiriusXM FC.

“He’s great, I had a conversation the day he was leaving, I wished him great luck and a lot of shut-outs, except to give up five or six goals if we play them again.

EDF explains Nainggolan departure

Eusebio Di Francesco hints Roma’s decision to sell Radja Nainggolan to Inter was partly down to disciplinary issues.

The Belgian completed a move to the Giallorossi’s Serie A rivals this summer, despite having been a key player for the Stadio Olimpico side for four years.

‘Nainggolan-Icardi like Sneijder-Milito’

The CEO of Inter sponsor Pirelli claims Radja Nainggolan and Mauro Icardi could emulate Wesley Sneijder and Diego Milito in 2010.

Inter remain the only Italian club to win the Treble, in no small part thanks to the exploits of Sneijder and Milito, and Marco Tronchetti Provera felt Nainggolan could strike a similar partnership with Icardi in the coming season.

“Inter’s transfer campaign was excellent, starting with Nainggolan,” he told Gr Parlamento.

Inter midfielder Radja Nainggolan will reportedly miss Saturday’s friendly against Zenit St Petersburg after pulling up with a thigh strain.

Nainggolan lasted just 24 minutes of Inter’s 2-0 defeat to Zenit on Tuesday due to the muscle problem, and Sport Mediaset notes he will undergo tests on Friday.

The website assures the injury ‘doesn’t look serious’ but nonetheless expects the Belgian to skip the clash in Pisa on precautionary grounds.

Inter lose friendly and Nainggolan

Inter suffered a 2-0 defeat to Swiss side Sion and lost Radja Nainggolan to injury in this evening’s friendly.

The Nerazzurri tested out a 4-2-3-1 formation with Nainggolan, Matteo Politano and Yann Karamoh fanning out behind Lautaro Martinez.

Nainggolan didn’t last long, as he felt a muscular twinge after 24 minutes and decided to come off as a precautionary measure, making way for youth team player Xian Emmers.

Daniele Padelli’s howler on a corner allowed Neitzke to nod in relatively undisturbed.
