Inter ready to bring Nainggolan back

Multiple reports suggest Radja Nainggolan will be welcomed back to Inter next season, as Cagliari director Marcello Carli admits ‘it’s not up to us.’

The midfielder was purchased from Roma for €38m plus Nicolò Zaniolo in the summer of 2018, but sent out on loan to Sardinia only a year later.

“Bringing in Nainggolan was outside of the usual plans, because we considered him a show-stopping player who could help raise the overall level of the squad,” director of sport Carli told Sky Sport Italia.

Giulini: 'Inter should keep Nainggolan'

Cagliari patron Tommaso Giulini suggests Inter welcome Radja Nainggolan back in the squad and claims the midfielder would fit in at any top club.

The Nerazzurri loanee helped Cagliari to their best start of the season since the Scudetto winners in 1969-70 but the Rossoblu struggled to keep their momentum over the winter.

Nainggolan, who was sold from Roma to Inter in the summer of 2018, returned on loan to Cagliari after one season at San Siro and has been linked with a permanent move away from the club this summer.

Cagliari: 'No news on Nainggolan'

Radja Nainggolan seems further away from Cagliari as their sporting director admits ‘there’s no news. I haven’t heard from Beppe Marotta’.

Nainggolan has spent the season back on loan at Cagliari, but the Sardinians do not have an option to buy the Inter midfielder and the coronavirus pandemic is forcing clubs to curb their spending.

“For now, there’s no news,” Marcello Carli told cittaceleste.it.

“Our priority, like it is for everyone at the moment, is not the market but restarting the season.

Inter accomodate for Vidal and Tonali swoop?

Inter coach Antonio Conte has reportedly made up his mind and wants to accommodate for Arturo Vidal and Sandro Tonali to arrive at San Siro this summer.

The former Juventus coach has been linked with Vidal in recent months and La Gazzetta dello Sport claims the two would like to be reunited in Milan.

And the newspaper also suggests Brescia youngster Tonali remains at the top of the wish list at the Giuseppe Meazza but Inter will have to accommodate to make space for the duo.

Nainggolan: 'Let's see how we return'

Cagliari midfielder Radja Nainggolan has claimed he’s ‘fine’ but is worried about the impact of stopping for over two months before the resumption.

The Inter loanee has been influential at the Sardegna Arena this term and could be set for a return to San Siro after the current campaign.

The Rossoblu were flying high in the first half of the season but saw their form plummet during the winter and haven’t won in Serie A since their 4-3 win over Sampdoria on December 2, 2019.

Nainggolan's destiny is at Roma

Radja Nainggolan confessed his biggest regret was leaving Roma for Inter, but Martin Mork assures there is still time to make it right at the Stadio Olimpico.

Tradition says that if you stand with your back to the Trevi Fountain and throw a coin into it, you are destined to return to that same spot in the Eternal City. Radja Nainggolan has probably closed his eyes and made that wish a thousand times since leaving Roma for Inter in the summer of 2018, but it’s not too late to fulfil that destiny after a journey of discovery.

Nainggolan and Perisic could return to Inter

Inter could welcome Radja Nainggolan and Ivan Perisic back from loan spells at Cagliari and Bayern Munich, but not Mauro Icardi after his PSG move.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Antonio Conte is not entirely averse to giving these players another go, having decided last summer that they did not fit into his tactical project.

With the arrival of Christian Eriksen in January, some adjustments have to be made, and he is ready to consider how they’d slot into that approach.

Spalletti and Nainggolan for Newcastle?

Luciano Spalletti is the latest candidate for the Newcastle United job and it’s reported he could bring Radja Nainggolan with him to St James’ Park.

The Premier League club is in the midst of a takeover by a Saudi-backed consortium, replacing current owner Mike Ashley, and it’s believed the new investors will spend big from the start.

That includes bringing in a top coach, but while Max Allegri and Mauricio Pochettino have been mentioned so far, the latest option is Spalletti.

Radja Nainggolan claims he was ‘dumped’ by Inter and clarifies that while he does not hate Juventus, ‘I’d always say no to them’.

Nainggolan left Inter after just one season, having been frozen out by Antonio Conte, and returned to Cagliari last summer.

Nainggolan was sold to Inter in the summer of 2018, despite being a fans’ favourite at Roma and having helped the Giallorossi reach the Champions League semi-finals just months earlier.
