Italians celebrate trophy with PSG

Italy internationals Alessandro Florenzi, Marco Verratti and Moise Kean are celebrating after winning the French Supercup with Paris Saint-Germain.

While Verratti has a packed trophy cabinet from his time at the club, this was the first taste of silverware for former Roma full-back Florenzi.

PSG’s social media accounts used that fact to mock rivals Olympique Marseille, who were beaten 2-1 in the Final last night.

Verratti doesn’t want to leave PSG

Marco Verratti has confirmed he doesn’t want to leave PSG: ‘I want to win the Champions League here.’

The Italian midfielder joined PSG in 2012 and he is not considering leaving the club in the future.

“I am in love with this club. Not many players stay in the same team for nine years,” the Italy international told Telefoot.

“My dream is to win here in Paris. Yes, win the Champions League, and continue to winning championships which is not so easy.

PSG-Basaksehir suspended after alleged racist abuse: what happened

Istanbul Basaksehir and PSG have walked off the pitch during their Champions League game after accusing the fourth official of racially abusing the assistant manager of the Turkish club.

The match was suspended when tension erupted on the touchline, Istanbul Basaksehir assistant manager Pierre Webo was sent off for dissent.

The problem seemed to be that Sebastian Colţescu, the Romanian fourth official, told the referee Ovidiu Haţegan to send Webo off, saying ‘the black guy,’ speaking in his native language.

De Boer: 'Admire Verratti and Jorginho'

Netherlands coach Frank de Boer is very impressed with Roberto Mancini’s Italy, while ‘Marco Verratti and Jorginho are my type of player.’

These are the top two teams in their Nations League group and go head-to-head in Bergamo on Wednesday at 19.45 UK time (18.45 GMT).

Verratti: 'Never considered leaving PSG'

Italy international Marco Verratti has revealed he has never considered leaving Paris Saint-Germain and aims to go all the way in Euro 2020 with the Azzurri.

The 27-year-old has spent the last eight seasons at Parc des Princes and helped the team win a domestic treble in France last term, before finishing runners-up behind Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

“It was a big blow, but we had a great journey,” Verratti said at a press conference ahead of Italy’s match against Poland in the UEFA Nations League on Sunday.

Coman wins Champions League for Bayern

Kingsley Coman’s header proved the only goal of the game, as Bayern Munich beat Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League Final.

Keylor Navas returned from injury, but Marco Verratti still wasn’t fit enough for 90 minutes, so joined ex-Inter striker Mauro Icardi on the bench. Nerazzurri-owned Ivan Perisic was dropped in favour of former Juventus winger Coman.

Manuel Neuer made a tough double save on Neymar, but Robert Lewandowski came even closer when his turn from 12 yards bounced off the upright.

Champions League Final line-ups

Marco Verratti, Mauro Icardi and Ivan Perisic are on the bench for the Champions League Final, as PSG take on Bayern Munich.

It kicks off in Lisbon at 20.00 UK time (19.00 GMT).

There had been hopes that Italy international Verratti would recover in time from a calf injury to be in the starting XI, replacing Leandro Paredes.

The 27-year-old has only played one full competitive match since February, the Coupe de la Ligue Final against Lyon on July 31.
