Confirmed: Trio out of Italy squad

Leonardo SpinazzolaMarco Verratti and Domenico Berardi have all withdrawn from the Italy squad through injury, so Sandro Tonali comes in.

The trio pulled up for their respective clubs at the weekend, and the FIGC confirmed on Monday morning that they would not be travelling to Italy’s training base at Coverciano.

Azzurri: Verratti out, Tonali in

Italy have called up Brescia midfielder Sandro Tonali to the senior squad after Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti pulled out through injury, reports ANSA.

Tonali had been called up to the Italy U-21 squad to face Iceland and Armenia next week, but has now been pushed to the first team for the Euro 2020 qualifiers against Bosnia-Herzegovina and Armenia instead.

Veratti's new PSG deal worth €17m?

Marco Verratti has signed a new contract with Paris Saint-Germain, keeping him at Parc des Princes until 2024 on a deal reportedly worth €17m a year.

The new lucrative agreement means the Italy international will stay put for a 12-year stint in Paris, as he has been a key member for the Ligue 1 champions since 2012-13.

He made the move after rising into the spotlight through his performances at Pescara in Serie B and has been plying his trade in the French capital ever since.

Verratti signs new PSG deal

Marco Verratti has signed a new contract with Paris Saint-Germain, taking him through to 2024.

The extension was confirmed in a tweet released by PSG’s official account on Wednesday evening.

It was previously reported the club had agreed to almost double Verratti’s salary to €12m a season, but Alfredo Pedulla claims he will earning nearer to €17m.

Verratti to renew with PSG

Marco Verratti has reportedly agreed to extend his contract with French giants Paris Saint-Germain until 2024, claim RMC Sport.

The Italy midfielder, who has been at PSG since 2012, is believed to have signed a three-year extention, as his current deal runs out in the summer of 2021.

Verratti joined from Pescara, and has never played in Serie A.

He has been repeatedly linked with a move to Juventus over the years, but looks set to remain in Ligue 1.

Verratti has 36 caps for Gli Azzurri, scoring three times.

Verratti: 'I was born to play football'

Marco Verratti claims he was “born to play football, as my feet start doing things by themselves,” but admits he ought to score more goals.

The PSG midfielder sat down with RMC Sport in France to discuss his playing style and career, just days after captaining Italy for the first time in a 5-0 victory over Liechtenstein.

“I’d rather concede a goal than just hoof the ball upfield without a clear idea of who I’m passing it to. I just hate that, I can’t do it and I won’t do it,” said Verratti.

Verratti: 'I considered Barcelona'

PSG midfielder Marco Verratti admits he “considered” an offer from Barcelona in 2016 and hit out at his hard-partying media image.

The Italy international was heavily linked with a move to Barcelona in the summer of 2016, but it never materialised.

“It’s true that something different was proposed and I think it was only normal for me to consider it for a little while,” Verratti told RMC Sport and L’Equipe.
