“What’s changed, above all, is our CT,” Bonucci said at a Press conference.

“He came in with a very precise idea, which has gone on to spread throughout Italian football.

Our Big Fat Greek Victory

This was as close to a perfect Italy performance as we’ve seen for many years and Giancarlo Rinaldi is relishing the Athens triumph.

If a Coach is measured by his ability to get his more surprising decisions right, Roberto Mancini is definitely a man on the up. There were those who thought this first mildly testing away tie might trip up his resuscitation of the Azzurri. They will have to wait until at least another game to puncture the feel-good factor he has begun to inflate Italian chests.

Juventus should pursue Manolas

With an ageing backline, Juventus should target Roma’s Kostas Manolas to resolve the club’s crippled centre-back positions, writes Anthony Barbagallo.

Juventus fans were conscious of the Bianconeri’s midfield problems going into the 2018-19 campaign, but little did they know that their side’s defence would be so disjointed throughout the season. The Italian giant, priding itself on impeccable defending, has never looked so wounded in the backline, especially in the centre-back positions.

With a significant player overhaul expected for the Old Lady this summer, swooping in on Roma’s star centre-back Kostas Manolas could prove to be an intelligent reinforcement for Juve’s defensive crisis.

Bonucci: Not 'clear-headed' at Milan

Leonardo Bonucci claims ‘I wasn’t clear-headed’ when he joined Milan and that he rejected advances from China so he could return to Juventus.

Bonucci made a shock move to Milan in the summer of 2017 but re-joined Juve a year later, in turn burning bridges with the Rossoneri and some sections of the Old Lady support, which have not forgiven him for leaving in the first place.

“It happened after my experience with Matteo [his son who was battling illness],” he told Rai 3.

Vieira: 'Italy ignorant on racism'

Patrick Vieira blasted Italian society, clubs and players like Leonardo Bonucci for being “ignorant” when it comes to racism. “Nothing has changed since my day.”

The debate over how to deal with racism in stadiums hit the headlines again last week with the ugly scenes from Lazio ultras in the Coppa Italia semi-final with Milan.

Despite repeated warnings read over the speaker system, play was never halted by the prefect in charge of security – as in Italy, the referee is not given the authority to suspend a game for racist abuse.

Old Lady needs rejuvenating

Juventus have put all their focus on to Cristiano Ronaldo, neglecting the weak defence and midfield, argues Emmet Gates.

We’re fast approaching a quarter-century since Juventus last won the Champions League. The latest failure coming from a young, bold and at times a simply irrepressible Ajax side that thoroughly dominated The Old Lady over two legs. To put the wait into some sort of perspective, when Gianluca Vialli hoisted ‘Ol Big Ears high into the Roman sky in May 1996, five of the Ajax starting XI from the second leg weren’t even born.

Lippi: Why Juve can win CL...

Former Juventus boss and World Cup winner Marcello Lippi reckons the Bianconeri can win the Champions League this season.

Speaking to Radio Anch’io Sport ahead of Juve’s Champions League quarter-final first leg at Ajax, Lippi explained why the Old Lady had what it took to lift the trophy for the first time since 1996.

“Juve have every chance of winning the Champions League, they have been among the three or four teams capable of lifting the cup for a few years now,” he noted.
