De Vrij: 'No Inter regrets'

Stefan de Vrij insists Inter “have no regrets, because we did everything we possibly could” in the Champions League.

The Nerazzurri knew they needed a win against Barcelona to qualify for the Round of 16, or at least to match Borussia Dortmund’s result against Slavia Prague, but they lost 2-1 at San Siro.

It means they drop down into the Europa League from February.

De Vrij: 'Slavia surprised Inter'

Inter defender Stefan de Vrij admits Slavia Prague surprised his side last time out but assures “we’ve improved a lot and we’re prepared for tomorrow.”

Only a last-ditch Nicolo Barella goal spared Inter from defeat to Slavia, despite many tipping the Czechs to be whipping boys in the Champions League’s so-called ‘group of death’ with Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund.

However, Dr Vrij made it clear lessons had been learnt going into their crunch rematch in Prague tomorrow.

De Vrij minor injury concern

Inter defender Stefan de Vrij has pulled out of Holland’s Euro 2020 qualifier against Northern Ireland with a minor injury.

The centre-back had been due to start this evening in Belfast.

Instead, he is not even on the bench for this game, as he is not fully fit.

According to Fox Sports and Mediaset Premium, it is not a serious injury and De Vrij agreed with coach Ronald Koeman to sit this one out.

He felt a twinge during yesterday’s training session and preferred not to risk further damage, awaiting more tests.

Lotito: 'Lazio lost because of De Vrij'

President Claudio Lotito claims Lazio “lost the game because of Stefan de Vrij” and he should’ve forced the defender not to play against Inter in May 2018.

The centre-back allowed his contract to run down and had already signed for Inter when he played in the final game of the 2017-18 season.

It was a head-to-head for a Champions League place and Inter won 3-2 at the Stadio Olimpico.
