Biglia: ‘Happy to be back’

Milan midfielder Lucas Biglia reveals he’s “very happy to be back” from injury, but insists his contribution “depends on the Coach”.

The 33-year-old has been sidelined by a calf injury since October, but has been included in the Rossoneri squad to face Cagliari on Sunday night.

Speaking ahead of the game, the Argentine midfielder revealed his delight over returning to the fold and being in contention to feature.

“I’m very happy to be back and to be with the boys,” he told Milan TV.

Biglia boost for Milan?

Lucas Biglia could reportedly be called up to the Milan squad to face Cagliari on Sunday night.

The 33-year-old has been sidelined with a calf injury since the end of October, limiting him to just 11 appearances so far this season.

However, Coach Gennaro Gattuso could be handed good news ahead of the weekend as Biglia trained with the rest of the squad on Wednesday and could be in contention to return, according to Sky Sport Italia.

Milan could loan Diawara

Milan are looking to loan Amadou Diawara from Napoli to replace Lucas Biglia, according to reports, but it needs the OK from Carlo Ancelotti.

The Rossoneri have lost Biglia and Giacomo Bonaventura to long-term injuries, while Riccardo Montolivo is out in the cold.

While technical director Leonardo would like to address that in January, the club is still awaiting a judgement from UEFA on Financial Fair Play.

According to Tuttosport, the solution could be to loan Diawara from Napoli for six months.

Milan see Sensi as Biglia heir

Sassuolo midfielder Stefano Sensi is an option for Milan in January after Lucas Biglia was ruled out for four months.

Biglia has struggled with a number of injury problems, but few expected his muscular tear to be this serious, so the club has to seek a replacement on the transfer market.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the favourite target is Sassuolo talent Sensi, who has already shown he can work in a 4-3-3 formation as well as 3-5-2 and 4-4-2.
