New season too early for ADL

Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis feels the 2020-21 season should start on October 4, can't confirm if Lille forward Victor Osimhen will be a part of the pre-season retreat but says Gennaro Gattuso will 'obviously' stay in charge.

The Partenopei patron is not completely satisfied with starting the next season as early as September 12, pointing out that there’s no time to rest the players.

Report: Napoli prepare five-year deal for Fabian

Napoli midfielder Fabian Ruiz has been targeted by the two Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid, reportedly prompting the Partneopei to offer him a new five-year contract.

Journalist Nicolò Schira claims the Spanish midfielder looks set to remain at the San Paolo, as his current contract negotiations are heading in the right direction for the Azzurri.

Real Madrid and Barcelona have not hidden the fact that the Spain international is an interesting target this summer, with the former Real Betis man continuing to impress for the Partenopei.

Report: Napoli in advanced Osimhen talks

Napoli are reportedly trying to close the deal with Victor Osimhen in the next few days, currently in contact with Lille to complete the transfer.

Journalist Nicolò Schira claims LOSC forward Osimhen has been offered a five-year deal worth €3m a year plus add-ons at the San Paolo.

The report claims President Aurelio De Laurentiis is certain the Partenopei will get the deal across the line very soon.

Schira writes the two clubs are currently working to complete the controversial move as soon as possible.

Dries Mertens has insisted that the gap between Napoli and Juventus is ‘minimal. I’m convinced winning the Coppa Italia is a starting point’.

Mertens recently helped Napoli win the Coppa Italia, but they go into their Serie A match against Roma this evening 30 points behind leaders Juve.

Much of that, according to the forward, stems from when he and his teammates staged a squad mutiny against President Aurelio De Laurentiis.

Lorenzo Insigne confirms he rejected Francesco Totti, explains why he left Mino Raiola and tells Aurelio De Laurentiis he ‘dreams’ of a new Napoli contract.

Insigne recently cut his ties with agent Raiola and was wanted by Totti before he turned to Vincenzo Pisacane.

“He sent me a message, but I calmly told him that I’d make other choices,” he told Corriere della Sera.

“[Leaving Raiola] wasn’t about football or, as I heard, because I had to leave Napoli with him. It was a personal decision.”

Report: Napoli offer €25m for Under

Napoli have reportedly offered €25m plus add-ons for Roma winger Cengiz Under.

Journalist Nicolò Schira claims the Partenopei are trying to sign the Turkey international, who has struggled to convince Paulo Fonseca at the Olimpico this term.

The report claims the Partenopei have offered €25m plus add-ons paid in four instalments and his agent has already come to an agreement with Napoli patron Aurelio De Laurentiis.

Schira writes the 22-year-old has been offered a five-year contract at the San Paolo worth €3.5m a season.

ADL: 'I called Allegri first'

President Aurelio De Laurentiis has revealed he contacted Max Allegri before he appointed Gennaro Gattuso and believes Napoli can advance in the Champions League.

After a difficult start to the campaign, Gattuso was appointed as Carlo Ancelotti’s successor in December and has slowly helped revitalise the Partenopei.

On Wednesday, the coach picked up his first trophy in the Coppa Italia Final against Juventus but the President has revealed that he had initially contacted the former Bianconeri coach Allegri about the job.

Benitez: 'Lozano-Carrasco swap a possibility'

Dalian coach Rafael Benitez has revealed he spoke to Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis about swapping Hirving Lozano for Yannick Carrasco.

The former Napoli coach admits he has kept in touch with the Partenopei chief and revealed the pair discussed possible transfers this summer.

“We kept in touch, there’s mutual respect,” he told Corriere dello Sport. “We spoke in January and an exchange between Lozano and Carrasco could be done.”
