Longo: 'Torino threw it away'

Moreno Longo insists he hasn’t had enough time to resolve the same old Torino problems after a 3-1 defeat to Sampdoria. “We can’t be exhausted after an hour.”

The Granata had taken the lead with Simone Verdi’s first goal for the club, but within nine minutes they had conceded three goals, including a Fabio Quagliarella penalty.

Longo: 'I know the fans'

New Torino coach Moreno Longo has pledged to reconnect with the fans at the Grande Torino and insisted he knows "how much they can help the players".

Walter Mazzarri left the club by mutual consent earlier today and Longo was swiftly announced as his replacement when all the bureaucracy had been dealt with.

He was unveiled today and told the reporters that he will be looking to change the Granata’s mentality and “approach” the future with “courage and self-esteem”.

Official: Longo in for Mazzarri at Torino

Torino have officially parted ways with Walter Mazzarri and appointed Moreno Longo on a contract to the end of the 2019-20 season.

Longo is no stranger to Toro, having been a player here and also the successful coach of their youth team, winning the Scudetto and Coppa Italia at Primavera level.

Before accepting the role, Longo first had to terminate the contract still holding him to Frosinone, even though he was fired in December 2018.

The 43-year-old is from Turin and grew up in the Torino youth system, playing for them as a right-back from 1994-97.

Torino hire Longo, line up EDF

Walter Mazzarri will be fired and replaced until the end of the season at Torino by Moreno Longo, but Eusebio Di Francesco is reportedly lined up for next season.

The historic 7-0 home loss to Atalanta was followed by Sunday’s 4-0 hammering at the hands of minnows Lecce.

Torino have decided to sack Walter Mazzarri after a series of disastrous defeats, claim reports, culminating in a 4-0 loss to Lecce.

The situation had become increasingly untenable following three embarrassing results in the space of a week.

Mazzarri has lost Torino

After two years of his tenure, Walter Mazzarri has taken Torino as far as he can, argues Tommaso Adami.

On Tuesday night, Torino were only four minutes away from punching their ticket to the Coppa Italia semi-finals. However, in the first minute of stoppage time, Hakan Calhanoglu's deflected shot tied the game for Milan, who ended up winning 4-2 in extra time. Unfortunate, to say the least, because getting away with a win at San Siro would have meant the world for Walter Mazzarri and the struggling Granata.

Mazzarri slams 'bad refereeing'

Torino coach Walter Mazzarri has claimed “it was a game to be won” and slammed the refereeing decisions after the Coppa Italia exit against Milan.

The Granata eventually lost 4-2 to the Rossoneri after being up 2-1 until the 91st minute, when Hakan Calhanoglu turned the game around for the hosts.

But Mazzarri points at a situation in the first half, when he felt Ante Rebic could have been sent off and said the referee was also decisive at the end.
