Mazzarri available for Napoli

Torino boss Walter Mazzarri will be in the dugout against former club Napoli on Sunday after his touchline ban was lifted.

Mazzarri and his assistant Nicolo Frustalupi were due to miss the match with Napoli, having both been sent to the stands during Toro’s 3-2 defeat at Parma earlier in the week.

However, the Granata announced in a statement on their official website that the pair’s appeal to have the suspension revoked had been accepted.

Mazzarri and assistant both banned

Torino have both Coach Walter Mazzarri and assistant Nicolò Frustalupi suspended against Napoli, while Mateo Musacchio and Alexis Sanchez have one-match bans.

Since the new rule allowing referees to show yellow cards to Coaches for dissent was introduced, Mazzarri is the first Serie A tactician to still be sent off from the touchline.

He saw red for two bookable offences during Monday night’s 3-2 defeat to Parma and has been given a one-match ban.

Mazzarri slams ‘self-destructing’ Toro

Walter Mazzarri slammed his Torino side for “self-destructing” against Parma but maintained their 3-2 defeat was “undeserved in every sense”.

Torino had battled back from a goal down to lead Parma 2-1, but a red card to Bremer and a late Roberto Inglese finish meant they left the Tardini with nothing to show for.

“Playing more than an hour with 10 men undoubtedly affects you,” Mazzarri said after the game.
