Juventus injuries pile up

There are reports Medhi Benatia and Miralem Pjanic are late additions to the Juventus injury list ahead of Sampdoria tonight.

Benatia 'Milan wanted me'

Medhi Benatia has revealed that Vincenzo Montella 'contacted him' about a possible move to Milan before he joined Juventus.

The defender spent a season at Roma before joining Bayern Munich in 2014, and said that he 'missed Italy' whilst in Germany, before moving on to discuss the differences between Pep Guardiola and current Coach Massimiliano Allegri.

Max Allegri admits Juventus “must play better” and joked going down to 10 men was the kick they needed against Olympique Lyonnais.

Serie A trio for Africa award

Mohamed Salah of Roma, Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly and Juventus defender Medhi Benatia are up for the African Player of the Year Award.

The trophy was won by Borussia Dortmund hitman – and former Milan youth team player – Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang last season.

A shortlist of 30 nominees was unveiled and there are three Serie A figures on there.

Egypt international winger Salah has been on sparkling form for Roma, while Napoli and Senegal centre-back Koulibaly was the subject of a €60m offer from Chelsea this summer.

Benatia: 'Allegri like Guardiola'

Medhi Benatia said Max Allegri “asks many of the same things” of Juventus that Pep Guardiola did at Bayern Munich.

The defender spoke to Sky Sport Italia after a 2-1 victory over Udinese, making his comeback from injury.

“We wanted to win and certainly could’ve done better in the first half, but we made some changes during the break and there was a vast improvement.

Juventus recover Chiellini, Benatia

Juventus defenders Giorgio Chiellini and Medhi Benatia are expected to be fit to face Udinese on Saturday.

The Bianconeri were sweating on their defensive options, as Benatia has been injured since before the international break.

Adding to their woes, it was reported last night that Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci could also be unavailable for the match on Saturday night.

However, SportMediaset is now reporting that all three will be called-up to face the Zebrette.

Marchisio back for Udinese?

Claudio Marchisio could reportedly return to the Juventus squad for the visit of Udinese on Saturday night.

The midfielder has been sidelined since April with a cruciate ligament injury, but has returned to training in recent weeks.

According to Corriere dello Sport, the Italian international could be included in Max Allegri’s squad for Saturday’s game, though it’s clearly unlikely he’ll start the match.

Juve quartet miss Dinamo trip

Juventus will be without Medhi Benatia, Claudio Marchisio, Kwadwo Asamoah and Daniele Rugani for their Champions League trip to Dinamo Zagreb on Tuesday.

Benatia and Marchisio remain sidelined with thigh and knee ligament injuries respectively, while Rugani and Asamoah suffered sprained knees at Palermo over the weekend.

The match in Zagreb marks a return to Dinamo for Marko Pjaca and Mario Mandzukic, both of whom previously played for the Croatian giants.

Allegri: ‘Inter-Juventus was terrible!’

Massimiliano Allegri believes Inter-Juventus was “one of the ugliest games on a technical level in the last 30 years”.

The Derby d’Italia saw the Bianconeri defeated by the Beneamata at San Siro, leading to suggestions that the Coach could shake things up to face Cagliari tomorrow.

“First of all I’ll have to look at the training session today to see who will be available for tomorrow,” Allegri noted in his pre-match Press conference.
