Roma must stick, not twist

Tempting as it may be to sell for huge profits and reinvest, Anthony Barbagallo warns Roma will be stronger if they make no January moves.

It might be ludicrous to say, but Roma should avoid purchasing or selling any player during this current transfer window. Why? This current Roman outfit boasts a blend of experience and promising youth – a combination that eventually paid dividends for Eusebio Di Francesco in the last couple of Serie A fixtures of 2018.

Benitez names Liverpool-Napoli dangermen

Rafa Benitez believes Mohamed Salah and Lorenzo Insigne will decide whether Liverpool or Napoli win Tuesday’s crunch clash in the Champions League.

Benitez has coached both clubs, winning the Champions League with Liverpool in 2005, and they face off at Anfield this week, with a place in the last 16 at stake.

“I could say many players, both from Liverpool and Napoli: on the one hand Mane, Firmino, Sturridge; on the other Callejon, Mertens, Albiol, Koulibaly,” he told Corriere delllo Sport.

Monchi: Kluivert an ‘investment’

Monchi admits ‘the Monchi of Sevilla doesn’t work at Roma’ but feels Justin Kluivert is an ‘investment’ for the club.

Monchi’s recruitment has come under fire after Roma’s poor start to the season, and the sporting director touched on several hot topics in an interview with El Mundo.

“If Real Madrid didn’t buy big after selling Cristiano Ronaldo then it’s because they already have the best players in their team: Isco, Bale, Benzema, Modric, Kross, Sergio Ramos, Marcelo and more,” he explained.

Roma strengthen by selling

Roma fans blame the business philosophy for poor results, but Andrea Tallarita claims they're literally improving the team by selling the best players.

For Roma, the story of the weekend wasn't so much that they drew against a side that hasn't won a single game this season, but that they did so in the silence of a half-empty Stadio Olimpico. The fans are deeply disillusioned, and the poor results (five points in four games) are not enough to account for the sullen faces.
