Kondogbia out of Valencia-Juve

Valencia midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia has been ruled out of Wednesday’s Champions League clash with Juventus.

Kondogbia picked up ankle strain in Valencia’s last game, and the former Inter man joins Ezequiel Garay in missing the visit of Juve.

However, ex-Beneamata defender Jeison Murillo has overcome a hamstring problem to take his place in the squad alongside Bianconeri old boy Neto and Italian right-back Cristiano Piccini.

Inter balance books for Dembele

Inter have more than met their FFP requirements with €51.5m worth of sales, so can now dive in for Tottenham’s Mousa Dembele.

The Nerazzurri have been under Financial Fair Play limitations for several years, but this time have managed to balance the books without selling any major stars.

La Gazzetta dello Sport calculated director of sport Piero Ausilio has brought in €51.5m so far this summer, well above the €45m that UEFA guidelines forced them to raise.

‘Kondogbia a Valencia bargain’

Valencia boss Marcelino claims his side have landed themselves a bargain in former Inter midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia, who cost €25m.

Valencia redeemed their option to buy Kondogbia on Thursday after a 2017-18 campaign that yielded four goals in 36 appearances from the Frenchman and a Champions League finish in La Liga.

“He’s a player who really did everything possible to join Valencia,” the Coach told Marca.

Valencia: ‘No Cancelo discounts’

Valencia director general Mateu Alemany warns Inter “we’ll only accept full payment of the buyout clause” for Joao Cancelo.

The full-back is on loan with the Nerazzurri, who can buy him outright for €35m before May 31.

However, with Financial Fair Play targets to be met by June 30, they were hoping to strike a deal whereby they could pay later, or include Geoffrey Kondogbia’s €25m move in the other direction as part of the cost.

‘Kondogbia crucial to Valencia’

Marcelino can’t confirm Valencia will sign Geoffrey Kondogbia outright from Inter but “no-one doubts he’s an essential pillar” of the team.

The Spanish side have the option to buy the French midfielder for €25m, and it has been reported this week that they have told the Nerazzurri they’ll be taking up that option.

“The club discusses sporting issues with me, never contractual ones,” Marcelino said in his Press conference today.

Inter negotiate for Cancelo

Inter are reportedly negotiating with Valencia to pay for Joao Cancelo after their option to buy expires on May 31.

The right-back joined the Nerazzurri on loan in the summer, with Geoffrey Kondogbia going the other way on loan with an option to buy.

While the Beneamata do want to sign Cancelo outright, their €35m option to buy is only valid until May 31.

Inter have Financial Fair Play targets to meet, so there’s no way they can pay that money and still break even for the season.

‘Inter can’t change Kondogbia terms’

Geoffrey Kondogbia’s agent insists Inter must accept that the midfielder wants to join Valencia on a permanent basis this summer.

It had been claimed that Inter were looking at revoking Valencia’s €25m option to buy Kondogbia, given his impressive performances for Los Che in 2017-18.

However, Daniel Perez warned to Tribuna Deportiva: “Inter can’t change anything now.

“One of the things that [Valencia] general manager Alemany wanted was to ensure Valencia had the upper hand.
