Chiellini eyes 'final KO'

Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini believes victory over Napoli on Sunday would ‘end the title race’ in Serie A and be ‘the final knockout’.

Juve travel to the San Paolo 13 points clear of Napoli at the Serie A summit, and Chiellini admitted he could not see any of the Old Lady’s rivals catch up with them, providing they beat the Partenopei.

“We still had some waste from Madrid in our heads and legs against Bologna,” the 34-year-old told Sky Sport Italia.

'What Juve need for CL comeback...'

Giorgio Chiellini says ‘belief, balance and an early goal’ will be key to Juventus coming back against Atletico Madrid.

Juve lost 2-0 to Atleti in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie on Wednesday and failed to take an away goal back with them.

Nonetheless, Chiellini told Tuttosport: “The comeback requires belief and balance from us.

“Some incidents hurt us and we’re disappointed, but the isn’t over yet. Did Atletico surprise me? No, we knew what the match would be like.

Morata questions Chiellini conduct

Alvaro Morata suggests Giorgio Chiellini dived to deny him a goal during Atletico Madrid-Juventus. “I’d need much more to throw him to the ground.”

Atleti ended up taking a 2-0 lead in their Champions League last-16 tie with Juve on Wednesday evening, but controversy struck when VAR disallowed Morata’s header, adjudging the striker to have pushed Chiellini in the build-up.

“It’s a very important victory because Juventus are one of the best teams in the world,” the Chelsea loanee told Rai Sport.

Chiellini: 'Knew of set play danger'

Giorgio Chiellini admits Juventus “should’ve been more focused on set plays,” but believes they can overturn a 2-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid.

The two late goals came from a corner and a free kick that were not cleared effectively and turned in on the rebound, after Atleti already had a penalty revoked and goal disallowed via VAR.

Juventus’ Giorgio Chiellini feels Atletico Madrid are ‘more Italian than Spanish’ in their approach and that Sergio Ramos is the best defender in the world.

Atleti have become renowned for their siege mentalty under Diego Simeone, and Chiellini agrees they come across as more of a Serie A side.

“I think Atletico Madrid are more Italian than Spanish,” the Juve stalwart told Marca ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League last-16 first leg at Wanda Metropolitano.
