Lennon: 'Lazio result like Barca!'

Celtic boss Neil Lennon claims his side’s historic 2-1 win at Lazio last night was “almost on a par” with beating Barcelona during his reign.

Celtic booked their place in the Europa League last 32 with a dramatic victory at the Olimpico as ex-Genoa man Olivier Ntcham scored deep in stoppage time, in turn all-but-eliminating Lazio from the competition.

Lazio: Another Celtic fan stabbed

Another Celtic fan has been stabbed in Rome, with 12 Lazio ultras also arrested in the aftermath of last night’s Europa League clash.

Local reports state the Celtic fan, who was only 20 years old, was taken to hospital in the early hours of Friday morning.

As for the arrest of Lazio ultras, it came as the 9,000-strong Scottish support was leaving the Olimpico, celebrating their side’s 2-1 win to reach the Europa League last 32.

The Roman Syndrome

Roma and Lazio’s Europa League defeats show that both clubs suffer from the same basic problem, writes Vilizar Yakimov.

Another week, another Europa League fiasco for the Serie A sides. The two almost identical defeats that Roma and Lazio suffered put the qualification of the two Capital clubs at serious risk with two games left.

It wouldn’t be harsh to say that Simone Inzaghi’s men need a miracle at this point, as they are now six points off second-placed Cluj, while Celtic’s triumph at the Olimpico puts Neil Lennon’s men out of reach. Odds in the USA - and everywhere else - are strongly against Lazio now.

Inzaghi: 'Lazio had the chances'

Simone Inzaghi feels Lazio should’ve had a penalty against Celtic, but concedes their own mistakes proved decisive. “This group was well within our reach.”

In all except the win over Rennes, the Aquile took the lead only to lose 2-1, paying for wasted opportunities in attack and howlers in defence.

Parolo: 'Lazio deserved to win again'

Marco Parolo insists Lazio “had more scoring opportunities and deserved to win, but it was just like the game in Glasgow” with another 2-1 defeat to Celtic.

Once again, Ciro Immobile put the Aquile in front, but they managed to throw it away in the Europa League.

“It was just like the game in Glasgow, we started really strong and then fell away. We relaxed and they started to press, equalising on the first shot on goal,” confessed Parolo.
