Montolivo to Werder Bremen?

Werder Bremen are reportedly considering a swoop for Milan midfielder Riccardo Montolivo.

According to Fussballeck, Montolivo is a ‘strong’ candidate to replace Borussia Dortmund-bound Thomas Delaney in Bremen’s midfield.

Although the former Italy international has a year left on his Milan contract, reports suggest he could part with the Rossoneri as early as this summer.

The 33-year-old started just 12 Serie A games last season and also has a German mother.

Montolivo to terminate Milan deal?

It is reported that Riccardo Montolivo is in talks to terminate his contract with Milan a year early.

The 33-year-old’s deal with the Rossoneri runs until the summer of 2019, but it appears he may depart the club sooner.

The former Fiorentina man made only 26 appearances in all competitions this season, with just 12 starts in Serie A.

With the Diavolo expected to strengthen further during this summer’s transfer window, it appears Montolivo will slip still further down Coach Rino Gattuso’s pecking order.

“Nobody expected so many problems,” Montolivo confessed, speaking to Sky.

“That’s why it was difficult to find balance, we’re working to get out of this complicated period.

Unimaginative Milan

Vincenzo Montella’s adjusted midfield shape failed to threaten Napoli’s goal at the San Paolo, explains Matthew Santangelo.

In the build-up to Napoli-Milan, multiple reports out of Italy suggested Coach Vincenzo Montella was leaning towards not only fielding a few different faces, but also running out a different shape. Naturally, opinions were mixed on the many projected changes, but once official line-ups were announced, the Rossoneri’s formation and placement of certain personnel resulted in plenty of head-scratching.
