Video: Paletta’s terrible penalty

Gabriel Paletta missed a penalty in spectacular fashion for Jiangsu Suning, but they still won the shoot-out against Paulo Sousa’s Tianjin Quanjian.

The Italian international played in today’s Chinese Cup match, which saw Alex Teixeira score twice to put Jiangsu in control.

However, Mi Haolun scored in the 90th minute before former Juventus target Axel Witsel grabbed an equaliser in stoppage time.

The match went to penalties, with Anthony Modeste missing for Tianjin Quanjian and handing the advantage to Jiangsu.

Paletta option for Boca Juniors

Gabriel Paletta’s move to Fenerbahce has broken down, so the ex-Milan defender could join Boca Juniors, though Gustavo Gomez is still hopeful.

The Rossoneri terminated their contract with Paletta by mutual consent, allowing him to find a new club without a transfer fee or existing salary.

Paletta had been on the verge of a switch to Fenerbahce, but according to the latest reports from Fanatik, those negotiations have broken down because they were unable to free up a ‘foreign player’ slot in the squad.

Unattached trio Gabriel Paletta, Bacary Sagna and Philipp Wollscheid are reportedly in Benevento’s sights as they look to bring in a defender.

Serie A clubs can still sign free agents, despite the transfer window shutting on Wednesday, and Il Mattino claims they are weighing up deals for three stoppers.

Their primary target would be former Italy man Paletta, who recently had his Milan contract terminated, with ex-Manchester City and France full-back Bacary Sagna coming in second.

Inter in shock Paletta swoop?

Inter are being linked with a shock swoop for Milan defender Gabriel Paletta.

According to Quotidiano Sportivo, Paletta is one of the centre-backs that Inter are pursuing as back-up for Miranda and Milan Skriniar.

The Italo-Argentine has made no appearances for the Rossoneri this season, with Alessio Romagnoli, Mateo Musacchio and Leonardo Bonucci above him in pecking order.

The newspaper adds the Beneamata are also tracking Manchester United’s Daley Blind, who has played just five times in the Premier League.

Milan put Musacchio on the market

Milan could sell Mateo Musacchio just six months after his €18m transfer from Villarreal, as he rarely plays.

The 27-year-old Argentina international was signed in July 2017 and was one of the first new arrivals under the Yonghong Li tenure.

However, the defender has managed only 18 competitive appearances this season and is often benched in favour of Alessio Romagnoli and Leonardo Bonucci.

According to the Corriere dello Sport, Musacchio is on the market if the Rossoneri can get someone more suited to new Coach Gennaro Gattuso’s tactics.
