Torino ask Milan for Krunic

Torino have turned to Milan benchwarmer and Bosnia international Rade Krunic after Daniele Baselli’s injury.

Baselli has suffered knee ligament damage and his season is already over, so the Granata are already at work to find reinforcements.

According to Tuttosport, their prime target is 26-year-old midfielder Krunic, who has failed to make an impact since his €8m transfer from Empoli to Milan.

He managed just nine Serie A appearances and two in the Coppa Italia, mostly off the bench, and is therefore available for the summer.

Season over for Torino's Baselli

Daniele Baselli’s season is over after Torino announced the midfielder would undergo knee surgery on Monday.

It was confirmed earlier this week that Baselli had sprained his right knee and sustained ACL damage.

Toro have now followed up that, after consultations, the decision has been made for the 28-year-old to go under the knife on June 8.

The former Atalanta man will therefore miss the rest of the 2019-20 campaign, which resumes on June 20.

Suspected ACL tear for Baselli

There are fears 2020 is over for Torino midfielder Daniele Baselli after suffering suspected anterior cruciate ligament damage.

If confirmed, a rupture of the ACL would keep him out of action for four to six months.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the best case scenario is only a partial tear of the ligament in his knee.

More tests are required after the swelling has subsided over the next few days.

Baselli made 16 Serie A appearances in the current campaign and scored two goals.

Mazzarri: 'Toro made it look easy'

Walter Mazzarri said Torino “made it seem far easier than it was” to beat Debrecen 3-0 in the Europa League and praised Simone Zaza.

The first leg of the preliminary round ended 3-0 in Alessandria thanks to an Andrea Belotti penalty, Cristian Ansaldi strike from an improbable angle and late Zaza header from a corner.

The second leg is in Hungary on August 1, but Mazzarri had said the most important thing was a clean sheet and they achieved it.

Baselli: 'Toro believe in Europe'

Torino midfielder Daniele Baselli believes that European qualification would make this an unforgettable season for the Granata.

Il Toro are currently sitting in seventh place in the Serie A table, but after Lazio’s win in the Coppa Italia Final, only the top six now qualify for European competition.

The Torinese club travels to Empoli on Sunday and will be hoping they can catch either Milan or Roma, who lie on 62 points, two ahead of their tally of 60.
