Baselli: ‘Torino struggles are normal’

Daniele Baselli insists “some difficulties are normal” for Torino but admits “there’s not much time” for a European push”.

The Granata were beaten by Verona at the weekend, their second defeat in a row following the Derby della Mole loss to Juventus.

“We missed a game which was within our reach but now we have to look forward to our objective, which is Europe,” Baselli told RMC Sport.

Inter want Baselli?

Inter are looking to take Daniele Baselli on loan from Torino with an option to buy, according to reports.

The Nerazzurri can’t spend this month without significant sales, as they have to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations.

That was seen yesterday when they took Lisandro Lopez on loan from Benfica, with the right to make it permanent for €9m in the summer.

Now SportMediaset is reporting that the Beneamata want to bring Baselli to San Siro on loan with an option to buy.

Report: Sevilla chase Baselli

Sevilla are reportedly hot on the trail of Torino midfielder Daniele Baselli.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Sevilla boss Vincenzo Montella is working on a deal to bring in Baselli as doubts persist over Steven N'Zonzi's future.

The broadcaster explains the Spaniards have also met the former Atalanta man's agent to “evaluate the intentions” of new boss Walter Mazzarri and his plans for the player.

Baselli, who has also been linked with Milan, has scored twice in 16 appearances for the Granata this season.

Torino in for Locatelli

Torino reportedly want to take Milan’s Manuel Locatelli on loan, and Daniele Baselli could move the other way.

The Granata are expected to sack Sinisa Mihajlovic later today, but are still making moves to reinforce the squad in January.

President Urbano Cairo has been clear that they want a striker to play backup to Andrea Belotti, with Sassuolo’s Diego Falcinelli named as a possible option.

According to Tuttosport, Toro are also interested in Locatelli, but Milan don’t want to let the youngster leave permanently.

Milan eye up Baselli

Milan are interested in Torino midfielder Daniele Baselli, but are more likely to make a bid for next season than in January.

According to Sky Sport Italia pundit Gianluca Di Marzio, the Rossoneri have sent out feelers for the former Atalanta man.

A January move seems unlikely in the circumstances, especially as Milan already have several midfielders struggling for playing time, including Lucas Biglia and Manuel Locatelli.

However, his relationship with Torino Coach Sinisa Mihajlovic is tense and he could well seek a transfer in the summer.

Baselli plays down Lazio ‘incidents’

Torino midfielder Daniele Baselli felt “VAR acted the way it was meant to” after his side’s controversial 3-1 win at Lazio on Monday.

Lazio cried foul play as Iago Falque’s handball offence in the box went punished, before Ciro Immobile saw red – via VAR footage – for jerking his head towards Toro defender Nicolas Burdisso, which was considered to be an attempted headbutt.

“These are incidents that happen,” Baselli said after the game.

Baselli apologises for seeing red

Torino midfielder Daniele Baselli apologised for his red card within 25 minutes in a 4-0 defeat to rivals Juventus. “I was too eager for this derby.”

Paulo Dybala had already put Juve 1-0 up on the night when Baselli received two easily avoidable bookings in quick succession.

The first was for tugging back La Joya, the second a bizarre foul where he launched himself at Miralem Pjanic.

Toro's ‘keeper was a busy man, making save after save to keep the score line somewhat respectable. If it hadn’t been for the former PSG shot-stopper, this would’ve been an historic beating for the Granata. Imagine if it’d been Joe Hart…

Sinisa Mihajlovic admits it was “our own fault” Torino were down to 10 men against Juventus, but “we can’t let our heads drop now.”

The Granata were thumped 4-0, though it had been a relatively open game until Daniele Baselli’s foolish two yellow cards.

“He started out kicking, which is a good thing. He just needed to be a bit more careful,” the Coach told Mediaset Premium.
