Samp go for Simone Verdi

Sampdoria reportedly hope to make Napoli winger Simone Verdi their first signing of the Eusebio Di Francesco era.

Although Di Francesco has yet to be officially appointed by Samp, that seems to be only a matter of time as he is already dictating the club’s transfer policy.

That is because, according to Gianluca Di Marzio, the former Roma boss has personally requested Verdi to form part of his new-look side.

Napoli paid €24.5m for the 26-year-old only last summer, but he went on to start just nine Serie A games in 2018-19.

Agent: Giampaolo 'special' to Torreira

Lucas Torreira’s agent has seemingly invited Milan to make an offer for the Arsenal midfielder as a call from Marco Giampaolo would be ‘special’.

Torreira has emerged as Milan’s top midfield target in recent days, given they are about to appoint his Sampdoria boss Giampaolo.

“I don’t know anything about the Rossoneri’s interest, no-one’s contacted me,” Pablo Bentancur told Calciomercato.com.

“I learned about this possibility through the Press.”

They ran the club for over 30 years, before a brief spell under Yonghong Li and since last April Elliott Management.

“I had opted for Giampaolo in the summer of 2016, when we were sharing our ideas with one of the many Chinese groups in negotiations to buy the club,” former CEO Galliani told Sky Sport Italia.
