Francesco Acerbi reveals the defeat to Sampdoria spurred Lazio on to their victory against Borussia Dortmund. ‘We were perfect in every way.’

Spadafora: 'Serie A needs Plan B and C'

Minister of Sport Vincenzo Spadafora said football has no ‘certainties’ to complete the season and urges Serie A to ‘find a Plan B and C’.

After a new wave of coronavirus in the top tier, the Minister of Sport said he believes the championship can be completed but stressed he can’t guarantee anything.

“We can do it, but I don’t know if we can go all the way,” Spadafora told La7. “We have no certainties for either Serie A or the other aspects.

“The League must find a Plan B and C.”

Lazio: Inzaghi not the only one guilty

Simone Inzaghi’s gamble against Sampdoria didn’t pay off but the coach is not the only one to be blamed for the Biancocelesti’s poor start to the season, writes Lee Bushe.

Things can change so quickly in football. Less than a year ago, you’d be hard-pressed to find a Lazio fan who wasn’t optimistic for the future. The Biancocelesti were on a 21-game unbeaten run, were challenging with Juventus for the Scudetto and seemed to be on the verge of securing Champions League qualification for the first time in over a decade.

Highlights: Sampdoria 3-0 Lazio

Lazio were given a rude awakening at Marassi, as Sampdoria dominated with Fabio Quagliarella, Tommaso Augello and Mikkel Damsgaard goals.

It could even have been a heavier scoreline for the Aquile if not for the heroics of goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha, who made a sensational double save on Damsgaard and Keita Balde Diao.

Simone Inzaghi will need a good look at his Biancocelesti after this heavy setback.

Inzaghi: 'Lazio can't lose like this'

Simone Inzaghi admits Lazio’s 3-0 defeat to Sampdoria was an embarrassing and inexplicable setback. ‘You can lose a match, but not like this.’

The Biancocelesti were missing several key players, including suspended Ciro Immobile, and the lack of strength in depth was all too evident in a humiliating defeat.

“Seeking an alibi in the absentees would be too easy,” shrugged Inzaghi in his press conference.
