Pioli: ‘We only played in flashes’

Fiorentina boss Stefano Pioli says his side ‘only played in flashes’ after defeat at Sampdoria.

The Viola were well beaten at Marassi, with Fabio Quagliarella’s hat-trick rendering Carlos Sanchez’s late consolation meaningless.

“Today we were only a team in flashes,” Pioli admitted after the 3-1 loss. “We were not consistent.

“Sampdoria created problems for us and we didn’t express all of our characteristics.

Giampaolo: 'I saw my Sampdoria again'

Marco Giampaolo “saw my Sampdoria again” in a 3-1 victory over Fiorentina and hailed hat-trick hero Fabio Quagliarella.

“It was a good performance, sprightly and sparkling. I really enjoyed it and saw my Sampdoria again in a game that was never in doubt,” the Coach told Rai Sport.

Quagliarella: ‘Hat-trick down to fun’

Fabio Quagliarella believes his hat-trick against Fiorentina is a result of the ‘fun’ he is having at Sampdoria.

The veteran forward netted a superb treble in the Blucerchiati’s 3-1 win over the Viola this afternoon, taking his season tally to 15 goals in 21 Serie A appearances.

“Without your head, your body cannot go anywhere,” the 34-year-old told reporters after the final whistle at Marassi.

“I am in an environment that I like a lot, a team in which I have a lot of fun and everything else comes from that.

Duvan Zapata in for Aubameyang?

Borussia Dortmund are reportedly considering Sampdoria striker Duvan Zapata as a replacement for Arsenal-bound Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The Gabon striker has been dropped from the squad due to disciplinary issues and put on the market, where he is expected to join Arsenal next week.

According to Sky Sport Italia, this could set off a chain reaction of moves among forwards, including Serie A teams.

If Aubameyang is sold, then Duvan Zapata is one of the prime candidates and initial talks have already begun via intermediaries, it’s reported.

Campbell: 'I'd love Italian job'
