Is Rafinha the answer for Inter?

Arriving on loan with option to buy from Barcelona, Rafinha represents more of an opportunity than a gamble for Inter, writes Richard Hall.

Rafinha has arrived at Inter with an air of possibility and, at the same time, of puzzlement. The Nerazzurri have now become the masters of the ‘try now, buy later’ deal, particularly when it comes to not making those moves permanent in the end. When all is said and done, it does lighten expectations.

Spalletti stands up for Inter players

Luciano Spalletti stood up for Inter players, particularly Davide Santon, after a 1-1 draw with Roma left them in fourth place.

Spalletti calls in Witsel

Inter Coach Luciano Spalletti has reportedly contacted his old Zenit player Axel Witsel, currently at Tianjin Quanjian.

The Belgium international spent five years at Zenit St Petersburg, much of that time under the guidance of Spalletti.

He had been very close to a Serie A move in the past, famously sitting in the Juventus HQ for hours on deadline day only for the transfer to fall through, as Zenit couldn’t find a suitable replacement.

Spalletti: ‘Pleased with Lopez signing’

Inter Coach Luciano Spalletti believes the imminent signing of Lisandro Lopez proves “we have good directors”.

The Benfica centre-back is in Italy today, and is set to complete a loan with a €9m option to buy.

“It’s confirmation of what I was saying, we have good directors,” Spalletti told reporters as he left a meeting between Coaches and referees.

“I’m convinced that their skill puts us ahead of other competitors.”

Julio Cesar: ‘Ramires an animal’

Former Inter goalkeeper Julio Cesar describes perspective new Nerazzurri signing Ramires as ‘an animal in a good sense.’

The San Siro club are believed to be close to securing a deal to bring in the former Chelsea midfielder, who currently plays for sister club Jiangsu Suning in the Chinese Super League.

And Cesar, who has played with Ramires while on international duty with Brazil, believes the 30-year-old will prove a valuable addition to Luciano Spalletti’s squad.

Candreva: 'I'd like Premier League'

Antonio Candreva admits he’d “love to have a go playing in the Premier League,” but thanks Luciano Spalletti for helping him learn new things at Inter.

The winger turns 31 next month and has long been linked with a move to England, amid interest from Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal.

“I really like the Premier League, as it’s an exceptional competition. I’d love to have a go at playing in the Premier League,” Candreva told Calcio 2000 magazine.
