'People are out to get Lotito'

Lazio spokesperson Arturo Diaconale believes Claudio Lotito is being ‘made to pay’ for his insistence on resuming the Serie A season.

Lotito is suing Gazzetta dello Sport for defamation over an article that alleged the patron had paid Mauro Zarate’s wages ‘under the table’ back in 2008, prompting suspicion on Diaconale’s part.

Lotito: 'A victory for Italian football'

Lazio President Claudio Lotito insists confirmation Serie A can resume from June 20 is not his victory, but ‘a win for all of Italian football.’

Lotito had been one of the fiercest proponents for the campaign to get back on track after it was suspended on March 10, especially as his team sat just one point behind leaders Juventus.

“This is not a victory for Lotito, but for all Italian football,” the Lazio President told Adnkronos news agency.

Investigation into Lotito's Juve-Inter comments

The FIGC prosecutor has reportedly opened an investigation into Lazio President Claudio Lotito’s comments about the recent Juventus-Inter match.

On April 26, a month into the lockdown, Lotito spoke to La Repubblica about the Serie A season.

“I am just one point off Juventus, and that’s just because of Juve-Inter, which come on, everyone saw.”

According to Il Tempo newspaper, this phrase peaked the interest of Federal prosecutors, who want to ask Lotito precisely what he meant.

Acerbi: 'No marking is impossible!'

Francesco Acerbi has warned that banning defenders from marking opponents tightly is ‘unthinkable’ and rubbished ‘fake news’ of player unrest at Lazio.

The issue of man-to-marking in Serie A matches once the season resumes is proving contentious, given it contravenes social distancing.

However, Acerbi made it clear that as much as Calcio had changed because of coronavirus, ‘the games won’t be table football’.

Lazio President Claudio Lotito has reportedly asked his players to accept a proposed pay cut for March and April, but the Aquile stars are not convinced.

Lotito has intentions of reducing their salaries for the months of March and April and will ask for a similar approach for the months of May and June unless Serie A resumes.

Lopez: 'Lotito runs Italian football!'

Crotone say they are considering ‘disciplinary action’ against Maxi Lopez after the striker suggested Lazio President Claudio Lotito ran Italian football.

Speaking to TyC Sports in his native Argentina last night, Lopez claimed ‘World War would break out’ if Serie A stopped and the Scudetto was awarded to Juventus.

More controversially, however, he described Lotito as ‘President of the FIGC’.

“If Italy does what the French did, a World War would break out,” he told the sports broadcaster.
