Lotito and Immobile meet Pope Francis

Claudio Lotito and Ciro Immobile met Pope Francis in a private audience on Saturday to mark Lazio's 121st birthday.

"It was a gesture of great attention and sensitivity from the Holy Father, who wanted to formulate to the team and to the whole Lazio family his best wishes for the 121st anniversary of the club’s foundation," Lotito said.

Salernitana ultras out against Lotito

Patron Claudio Lotito used the customised Lazio plane to get Salernitana to Milan for their match against Monza and the ultras are not pleased.

Charters were too expensive and therefore Salernitana reached Lombardy in Biancocelesti colours, as La Gazzetta dello Sport reports the Serie B side ‘borrowed’ Lazio’s plane.

The Ultras of Salernitana have already been in conflict with the ownership for some time and were not pleased by travelling in the Aquile's colours.

Uncertainty for Inzaghi at Lazio

Lazio coach Simone Inzaghi has yet to renew his contract and will meet with the managers to discuss the decisive transfer market in the upcoming days.

Il Messaggero reports the coach wants €3m a season to stay at the Olimpico, but patron Claudio Lotito has only offered the same terms for a further year.

The newspaper claims the first offer was almost a provocation for Inzaghi, who has picked up the Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana.

Lazio patron Claudio Lotito wants to tie Simone Inzaghi to the Olimpico, but the coach has rejected the first offer of a new deal.

Il Corriere dello Sport reports the former striker didn’t accept the terms on offer in the first proposal from President Lotito, who is eager to reach an agreement with the coach.

Inzaghi's deal expires in June 2021 but he has has already stressed an agreement doesn’t depend on the January transfer market.

Lazio's Diaconale has died

Lazio have announced their spokesperson Arturo Diaconale has died at the age of 75.

Diaconale had been Lazio’s spokesman since 2016 and the Aquile announced his death with a message of condolences.

“SS Lazio, its President, the coach, the players and all the staff express deep condolences for the death of the club’s spokesperson, Arturo Diaconale, and join the pain of the family,” the message read.
