Luis Alberto set for new deal?

Luis Alberto is reportedly set to sign a new contract with Lazio, tying him to the club until 2024.

As per Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Nicolò Schira, the creative midfielder will be rewarded for his performances at the Biancocelesti.

The 27-year-old had been linked with a return to Sevilla over the summer, but he now looks like putting pen to paper on a new deal worth €2.5m a season.

Luis Alberto has been an ever-present in Serie A this season, assisting nine goals in just 12 games so far.

Ultras ruining Lazio's image

Lazio must realise ultras are damaging their international standing and really do something to clamp down on the Fascist elements, warns Emmet Gates.

The video went viral. If you are reading this article, chances are you’ve probably seen it. The video captured Lazio’s ultras, dressed in identikit clothing of denim jeans and black leather jackets, parading through Glasgow town centre giving the Roman salute.

Once the video hit the Internet it, not surprisingly, caused a huge backlash. The club were brandished as ‘Nazio’ (not exactly an original slur). Lazio released a statement condemning the behavior of these fans, and for ‘bringing Hitler into our club’.

Many Italians don't understand racism

Football fans are a mere microcosm of society and what Mario Balotelli faced in Verona reflected a larger issue, writes Susy Campanale.

Mario Balotelli was subjected to racist abuse at the Stadio Bentegodi. This, somehow, is still up for debate in Italy. It is not about Italian football at this point, nor is it helpful to note all the recent incidents of racism in the Premier League, Ligue 1 and most blatantly in Bulgaria.

Inzaghi hits back at Lotito & Klose

Lazio fury at UEFA racism punishment

Lazio released a statement protesting the “deeply damaging” UEFA punishment for racist chanting against Stade Rennais, but the verdict hasn’t been announced yet.

The Biancocelesti were at risk of a partial stadium closure in the Europa League due to past offences and the tone of the club response seems to suggest that’s what has happened.

Lotito: 'Lazio players, be more like me!'

President Claudio Lotito lambasted his Lazio squad and Coach Simone Inzaghi, warning they must “repay” the larger salary bill. “If I was on the pitch, we’d get better results.”

The patron did not hold back in an interview with the Corriere dello Sport, making it clear he won’t be blamed by fans for poor results.

“After Juventus, Lazio are the club that has won the most in the last eight years. Fiorentina won nothing, Napoli had less than us,” insisted Lotito.

Lotito: 'Lazio lost because of De Vrij'

President Claudio Lotito claims Lazio “lost the game because of Stefan de Vrij” and he should’ve forced the defender not to play against Inter in May 2018.

The centre-back allowed his contract to run down and had already signed for Inter when he played in the final game of the 2017-18 season.

It was a head-to-head for a Champions League place and Inter won 3-2 at the Stadio Olimpico.

Zeman: This Roma belongs to no-one!

Zdenek Zeman has claimed that this Roma side belongs to ‘no-one’ and also hit out at Lazio for their lack of ambition.

Roma lost Francesco Totti and Daniele De Rossi over the summer, and Zeman feels his former club no long have an identity, pointing the figure at “whereabouts unknown” President James Pallotta.

“I think they will [return], but there must be the right conditions,” he told Il Messaggero.

“Francesco had to say ‘enough’ because they only used him for advertising purposes.

Lotito: 'Zero tolerance on racism'

Lazio President Claudio Lotito announced a “zero tolerance” policy against racism in the stands. “We’re tired of our image being dragged through the mud.”
