President Claudio Lotito has praised their coach Simone Inzaghi for making everyone at Lazio “feel important and indispensable”.

The President has hailed the work of coach Inzaghi and revealed that he has seen the tactician develop during their time together at the Olimpico.

Lotito: 'Neutrals support Lazio'

President Claudio Lotito has claimed that “all those” who don’t support Juventus or Inter are hoping that Lazio will win the Scudetto this year.

The patron revealed that he received a lot of calls and messages after Lazio beat Inter 2-1 last weekend.

“Many from the Lazio supporters, but also many who aren’t Lazio fans,” he told Il Messaggero. “The truth is that they ask us to break Juve’s monopoly and to beat Inter.

“All those who don’t support Juve or Inter, support us.”

Lotito: 'Ferocious Lazio with Inter'

Claudio Lotito wants to see Lazio “play with the same determination and sporting ferocity” against Inter in this week’s Scudetto showdown.

The Biancocelesti are now in third place, just one point behind joint Serie A leaders Inter and Juventus, but host the Nerazzurri at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday evening.

“I hope that on Sunday against Inter we will see Lazio play with the same determination and sporting ferocity that has so far characterised our season and allowed us to bring home these results,” Lotito told news agency Ansa.

Scudetto deja vu for Lazio?

Lazio are the ultimate underdogs in the Scudetto race, but that has never stopped them before, writes Vijay Rahaman.

It's been 20 seasons since Lazio last celebrated their second and final Scudetto success, but they are in with a genuine chance for a third crown this year.

Back at the turn of the millennium, just as it seemed now, the Biancocelesti were the outsiders. They trailed Juventus by five points with just three matches remaining, but managed to overhaul the Bianconeri and won Serie A in their centenary year. Currently, they trail the eight-time defending champions by five points with a game in hand, maybe a case of deja vu?

Lazio the real power in Rome now

Lazio have grown both on and off the field in recent years, as Susy Campanale sees them rivalling Roma to become the leading light in the Capital.

The Lazio motto in recent years has been La Prima Squadra della Capitale – the first team in the Capital. This refers to the fact they were founded before rivals AS Roma, but have historically always been considered the smaller club, in terms of fanbase, success and influence. However, things are changing in the Eternal City.

Lotito: 'Lazio had €550m debt!'

Lazio President Claudio Lotito has revealed how he saved the club in 2004. “They turned over €84m and had debts of €550m.”

Lazio were close to bankruptcy at the end of the Sergio Cragnotti era, despite their Scudetto success in 2000, as they posted colossal losses.

Lotito bought the Aquile in 2004 yet, while stabiising them, has since become renowned for his frugal ways.

However, he argued at a press conference: “When I entered the world of football, Lazio turned over €84m and had debts of €550m.
