MD: 'Milan want Guardiola'

Milan want Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola as Coach and Ajax’s Marc Overmars as director of sport for next season, claim Mundo Deportivo.

The Spanish paper suggest owners Elliott Management have become frustrated with the lack of results and succession of tacticians who have come through their gates in recent years.

They believe the only way to truly get Milan back where they belong is with experienced, proven winners at the helm.

Pioli has to keep it simple

With Marco Giampaolo overcomplicating things at Milan, Vilizar Yakimov thinks Stefano Pioli should do exactly the opposite to rediscover the Rossoneri’s form.

Seeing a club sacking a Coach after a victory is a sight that we don’t witness too often. In fact, Marco Giampaolo has the right to feel at least a bit unfortunate with the timing of his Milan dismissal, as the Rossoneri host Lecce next in a game that could’ve easily seen the ex-Sampdoria boss winning two in a row.

Pioli's Milan taking shape

Stefano Pioli’s Milan is beginning to take shape in a 4-3-3 with Ante Rebic, Suso and either Krzysztof Piatek or Rafael Leao.

He came in to replace Marco Giampaolo, who was sacked after four defeats in the opening seven rounds, and will make his debut against Lecce this weekend.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Pioli will stick with the 4-3-3 formation and continues to see Lucas Paqueta as a midfielder rather than in a more advanced role.

Theo Hernandez: 'Milan can finish fourth'

Theo Hernandez insists Milan can still get fourth place in Serie A and is impressed by new boss Stefano Pioli. “He has clear ideas.”

The Rossoneri sacked Marco Giampaolo after losing four of the opening seven games and brought in ex-Lazio, Inter and Fiorentina Coach Pioli, who will make his debut this weekend against Lecce.

“It’s obviously better for a Coach to start the season rather than come in, but these things happen in football,” the full-back told Sky Sport Italia.

Kessie: Milan 'strong & fired up'

Franck Kessie admits Marco Giampaolo needed “a bit more time” but insists Milan are “strong and fired up” for Stefano Pioli’s reign.

Giampaolo lasted just four months as Milan Coach after four defeats in his first seven Serie A games, and he has since been succeeded at the helm by Pioli.

“I heard about the change of Coach with the national team,” Kessie told Sport Mediaset.

“We’re players and we must always give our best, regardless of who’s in the dugout.

Gandini: 'Who is in charge of Milan?'

Former Milan director Umberto Gandini maintains Marco Giampaolo “put himself on the chopping block” and reveals he warned Ivan Gazidis.

The club has been struggling in recent months, as they pulled out of the Europa League to wipe the Financial Fair Play slate clean, then sacked Marco Giampaolo after seven games to bring in Stefano Pioli.

“I believe Pioli arrives at the right moment and it’s impossible not to agree with Zvonimir Boban when he says this was a carefully pondered decision,” Gandini told Radio 24.

Pioli revamps Milan dining plans

Stefano Pioli is working on team-building exercises at Milan, including a rearrangement of the tables in their dining room.

The new Coach was appointed this week, replacing Marco Giampaolo after four defeats and three wins in Serie A this season.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Pioli’s first gesture was aimed at creating a more harmonious atmosphere within the squad.

This starts in the dining room, where he wants all the players around one long table so they can sit together and chat.

Boban: 'Pioli Milan's best option'

Milan director Zvonimir Boban doesn’t have “a magic wand” to fix the club, but insists Stefano Pioli “was the best option on the market and not a second choice.”

The Rossoneri sacked Marco Giampaolo after just 111 days at the helm, resulting in three wins and four defeats.

“I am working to make Milan great again, but I haven’t been here long and there is a lot of work to be done in every area,” Boban told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Boban explains Giampaolo sacking

Zvonimir Boban has explained that Milan sacking Marco Giampaolo was “a unanimous decision” and accepted part of the blame for their poor start.

Boban endorsed Giampaolo’s appointment just four months ago, but the Coach has since made way for Stefano Pioli and the Croat confirmed Milan’s entire board were in agreement about dismissing the ex-Sampdoria boss.

“I’m asking myself why I’m at Milan too!” he said at the Festival dello Sport, hosted in Trento by the Gazzetta dello Sport newspaper.
