Kessie: 'Milan dream come true'

Franck Kessie insists it is “a dream come true to play for Milan” and has no intention of leaving, but that is not the message put out by his agent.

“I am happy with Stefano Pioli, just as I was with all the coaches I worked with at Milan,” the Ivorian told Sport Mediaset.

“We had a few slip-ups at the start, but we’re improving now and I think Champions League qualification is still up for grabs.”

Pioli: 'Milan quality and intensity'

Stefano Pioli sees the 3-2 win at Bologna not as a turning point for Milan, but another step in their progress. “We’ve got quality, but must combine it with intensity.”

There is definitely progress, as this was their best performance of the season so far and a second consecutive victory after a 1-0 win at Parma last week.

Fassone: 'Milan wanted Ibrahimovic'

Former Milan CEO Marco Fassone reveals they had already tried to sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic, while praising Gennaro Gattuso’s performances.

His tenure was short-lived under Yonghong Li and he was axed along with director of sport Massimiliano Mirabelli after the club was essentially repossessed by Elliot Management for unpaid loans.

“We had also suggested getting Ibrahimovic, and spoke to Mino Raiola at the time, but then we opted against it,” revealed Fassone on Tuttomercatoweb Radio.

Pioli: 'Milan dominated Parma'

Stefano Pioli believes Milan have turned a corner after their 1-0 win away to Parma. “We had 25 attempts on goal and dominated.”

Theo Hernandez had to pounce on a lucky ricochet at the 88th minute at the Stadio Tardini for their first victory in a month.

“We had over 25 attempts on goal today, but we were clear today, the team knew how important the game was. Even if all matches are worth three points, some mean more than others,” the coach told Sky Sport Italia.

Suso: 'Giampaolo's Milan no team'

Suso admits he was “angry I didn’t see a team” when Marco Giampaolo coached Milan, whereas Stefano Pioli reminds him more of Gennaro Gattuso.

Milan decided to part with Gattuso after they finished just outside the Champions League places last season, but the appointment of Giampaolo didn’t go down as planned.

The former Sampdoria coach was axed after only seven games of the 2019-20 campaign and has since been replaced by ex-Fiorentina and Inter boss Pioli.

Napoli are a void of inspiration

Napoli and Carlo Ancelotti seem to be completely uninspired, writes Emmet Gates, wasting the quality Milan would love to be able to rely on.

Watching last night’s entertaining but low-quality game between Milan and Napoli, one couldn’t help but notice each side had what the other lacked.

It’s not exactly news to anyone that even casually follows Serie A that Milan and Napoli went into this match under their own personal clouds of self-destruction. Their respective issues are well known and won’t be repeated again here, but what was striking was the difference in effort.
