Lotito: ‘Pioli never doubted’

Lazio President Claudio Lotito says that Coach Stefano Pioli ‘was never up for discussion and I’ve never had doubts.’

The Biancocelesti boss has been under pressure lately after picking up only one point from his last six Serie A matches.

Several names have been linked with the job, such as Marcello Lippi and Simone Inzaghi, but Lotito has reaffirmed his faith in the man who took Lazio to a third-place finish last season.

Sampdoria decisive for Pioli?

Lazio Coach Stefano Pioli must reportedly beat Sampdoria to save his job after a meeting with President Claudio Lotito.

It was reported yesterday that the club have given their Coach another chance, but a host of names continue to be linked with the post.

Corriere dello Sport writes today that Pioli had a long talk with Lotito yesterday, when they discussed the crisis.

Lazio give Pioli another chance

Lazio have reportedly decided to back Stefano Pioli for the moment, but put the squad into a training retreat.

There were rumours he would be fired after one point in five Serie A rounds, including last night’s 2-0 home defeat to Juventus.

However, according to Mediaset Premium, the club will stand by their tactician at least for the moment.

The team will go back into a training retreat ahead of Thursday’s Europa League match against Saint-Etienne, even though they have already qualified top of the group.

Pioli: 'Lazio problem psychological'

Stefano Pioli admits Lazio’s problems are “psychological” after defeat to Juventus. “We’re knocked down and can’t get back up.”

They now have one point from the last six Serie A rounds and were beaten 2-0 at home by a Santiago Gentiletti own goal and Paulo Dybala moment of magic.

“Playing the first five minutes well doesn’t do much good. The moment they got into our half, Juventus scored,” shrugged the Coach on Mediaset Premium.
