Juventus had to axe Max

Max Allegri will go down as one of the greatest Coaches in Juventus history, yet Vilizar Yakimov thinks that letting go was the only decision the club could’ve made.

Massimiliano Allegri leaves with 11 trophies, two Champions League finals in only five years with a 71% win ratio in all competitions. Juventus’ decision to part ways with Allegri doesn’t only mean that the Bianconeri will have a new Coach starting from next season, but it also marks the end of an era in Turin.

Ronaldo delivered, despite Juventus

As Cristiano Ronaldo’s debut Juventus season comes to a close, Vilizar Yakimov believes he lived up to expectations, but the team around him fell short.

Another missed opportunity. That’s probably what the majority of the Juventus fans are thinking after seeing Tottenham completing a dramatic comeback against Ajax to reach their first Champions League final against fellow English side Liverpool.

Old Lady needs rejuvenating

Juventus have put all their focus on to Cristiano Ronaldo, neglecting the weak defence and midfield, argues Emmet Gates.

We’re fast approaching a quarter-century since Juventus last won the Champions League. The latest failure coming from a young, bold and at times a simply irrepressible Ajax side that thoroughly dominated The Old Lady over two legs. To put the wait into some sort of perspective, when Gianluca Vialli hoisted ‘Ol Big Ears high into the Roman sky in May 1996, five of the Ajax starting XI from the second leg weren’t even born.

Mandzukic and Chiellini miss Ajax

Mario Mandzukic and Giorgio Chiellini are out of the Juventus squad to face Ajax in tomorrow’s Champions League quarter-final, so Moise Kean is likely to start.

The first leg ended 1-1 in Amsterdam and the decider is at the Allianz Juventus Stadium on Tuesday at 20.00 UK time (19.00 GMT).

Mandzukic has not looked like his usual self lately and Max Allegri confirmed in an interview with Sky Sport Italia this evening that he could not continue to play through the pain of a knee tendon problem.

Kean the key to knocking out Ajax

Breaking records for club and country, growing in confidence each game, Anthony Barbagallo insists Juventus must start Moise Kean against Ajax.

Juventus will be preparing to go another round with a young talented Ajax side – who are looking to emulate the Bernabeu night in Turin – this Tuesday evening. For the Bianconeri not to fall into the usual trap of complacency and their conservative approach, the Italians must ensure they start in-form Moise Kean for this season-defining fixture. The versatility of the 19-year-old can add more dynamism in that frontline, making life more complicated for the Ajax defenders than in the first leg.

Ajax make Juve anxious

Juventus have an all-important away goal, but Elio Salerno notes the performance left many fans in a nervous disposition going into the second leg with Ajax.

The score draw says advantage Juve, but based on the 90 minutes we witnessed in the Johan Cruijff Arena, the Champions League quarter-final is very much in the balance, with both teams fancying their chances of progression.

Erik ten Hag’s exuberant Ajax team were yet again impressive on Europe’s elite stage. The expectation surrounding the Dutch team has significantly heightened and their players are clearly revelling in the spotlight. From the outset they were energetic, skilful, creative, and full of attacking intent.

Prosecutor 'wants Mandzukic footage'

FIGC prosecutor Giuseppe Pecoraro has reportedly asked to view footage of Mario Mandzukic’s kick during Juventus’ 2-1 win against Milan on Saturday.

Mandzukic appeared to kick Alessio Romagnoli in the box, but the striker avoided a second yellow card as neither the referee Michael Fabbri nor the VAR acted.

Although referee designator Nicola Rizzoli dismissed the incident, Pecoraro deemed it ‘a severe case of violent conduct’, writes Gazzetta dello Sport.
