A near-perfect Juventus night

Cristiano Ronaldo’s hat-trick against Atletico Madrid will take the headlines, but Elio Salerno saw a Juventus Coach who planned every detail.

Prior to Wednesday night, Juventus had never previously overturned a 2-0 1st leg deficit. However, prior to this season the Bianconeri had also never had an extraterrestrial striker, the Champions League’s greatest marksman, Cristiano Ronaldo.

The headlines will belong to their hat-trick hero, the media will have exhausted all the superlatives, but beyond The Old Lady’s superstar Number 7 was a team that played close to a perfect game and a Coach that had planned every detail.

Juventus consider Spinazzola for Atleti

Juventus are expected to start Leonardo Spinazzola against Atletico Madrid in what would be his Champions League debut.

The Round of 16 kicks off in Turin on Tuesday at 20.00 GMT after the first leg ended 2-0 for the Colchoneros.

Some changes are forced upon Max Allegri, because Alex Sandro is suspended, with Mattia De Sciglio, Andrea Barzagli, Douglas Costa, Sami Khedira and Juan Cuadrado injured.

This leaves him with limited options in wide areas, so it remains to be seen if he’ll start with three at the back or four.

Juventus could win it all

Max Allegri learned, the squad has more experience and in theory Juventus have everything it takes to win the Champions League, writes Daryl Hammond.

Down 3-1 to Real Madrid in the 2017 Champions League Final and glancing over to his bench, Massimiliano Allegri may have realised for the first time just how far off his side were from winning the Champions League.

As Gareth Bale, Alvaro Morata and Marco Asensio trotted on for Los Blancos, the Italian could only look to Mario Lemina and Juan Cuadrado, the latter later seeing red in his brief time on the pitch.

Mandzukic out for a month?

There are reports Mario Mandzukic could be out of action for a month, putting the Juventus striker at risk to face Atletico Madrid.

The Croatia international pulled up during training on Thursday and Max Allegri confessed the prospects of a quick recovery were not good.

According to the latest rumours, there are fears he has a lesion in the femoral bicep of his right thigh.

It could be bad enough to require a month on the sidelines and that would be a huge problem for the Bianconeri.
