Mandzukic move to Al-Rayyan stalls

Mario Mandzukic’s agents have flown to Qatar for talks with Al-Rayyan amid reports the negotiations with Juventus have stalled.

The Croatia international is not on Juve’s Champions League squad list and is again left out of today’s Serie A match with Hellas Verona.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, the player had agreed a two-year contract worth €7.5m per season.

However, doubts set in over the last few days, with the player unconvinced by the temporary training camp they are operating in during the renovation process.

Reports: Mandzukic to Al-Rayyan

Al-Rayyan are expected to meet Mario Mandzukic’s camp tomorrow after emerging as favourites to sign the Juventus striker.

Mandzukic is Qatar-bound and had been linked with moves to Al-Gharafa and Al-Duhail.

However, Calciomercato.it reports Al-Rayyan have leapfrogged their rivals and will speak to the Croat’s representatives on Tuesday.

Paratici: 'Mandzukic to Qatar'

Juventus director Fabio Paratici confirms Mario Mandzukic is heading towards Qatar rather than MLS or LAFC. “He has been an important player for us.”

The Croatia international was left out of the squad travelling to face Fiorentina, as after being dropped from the Champions League squad list, his future seems to be elsewhere.

“There are market opportunities that present themselves,” Paratici told Sky Sport Italia.

Abate and Mandzukic reject Qatar

Both Mario Mandzukic and Ignazio Abate have reportedly turned down a move to Qatar for Al-Gharafa SC.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport transfer expert Nicolò Schira, Mandzukic opted to remain at Juventus and wait for another proposal in January.

Now former Milan full-back Abate has rejected a contract worth €2.2m per season.

He is waiting for a more intriguing project to present itself, as he wishes to continue his career at the top level.
