Back problem for Higuain

Juventus could be without Gonzalo Higuain for this weekend’s trip to SPAL, as he skipped training today with back pain.

Pipita is suffering from lumbago, a condition that flares up occasionally, and a statement from the Bianconeri medical staff confirmed he will be monitored on a daily basis.

Miralem Pjanic is also a major doubt for the SPAL game after limping off with a muscular injury in the 2-0 victory over Brescia.

Adrien Rabiot is also training separately and goalkeeper Carlo Pinsoglio has flu symptoms.

Khedira and Bernardeschi back for Juve

Sami Khedira and Federico Bernardeschi returned to training for Juventus today, but Miralem Pjanic is expected to miss SPAL.

The Bianconeri resumed today after Sunday’s 2-0 victory over Brescia, having taken Monday off.

Midfielders Khedira and Bernardeschi were back in the group today following injury lay-offs, particularly the German international, who had been out since knee surgery at the end of November.

Giorgio Chiellini made his comeback in the final minutes of the Brescia game, his first since a torn anterior cruciate ligament in August.

Pjanic avoids serious injury

Juventus midfielder Miralem Pjanic has escaped serious injury, and is expected to be back for the club’s Champions League clash with Lyon next week.

The Bosnian came on as a substitute against Brescia yesterday in the second half.

However Pjanic was only on the pitch for seven minutes before falling to the ground holding his groin.

The 29-year-old was immediately replaced by Blaise Matuidi.

Sarri risks losing Pjanic again

Juventus midfielder Miralem Pjanic lasted for seven minutes against Brescia and will have to undergo tests to clarify the extent of the injury setback.

The Bosnian playmaker reportedly had to leave the pitch with an adductor problem, the same injury that kept him out in November.

La Gazzetta dello Sport writes that the club will investigate the muscle injury amid fears of losing the influential player ahead of some big matches the coming month.

Chiellini returns, Pjanic out

Juventus welcomed back Giorgio Chiellini after six months out, but Miralem Pjanic faces a spell on the sidelines.

Chiellini had missed all-but-one game this season, after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament in his knee in the first week of the season.

The defender replaced Leonardo Bonucci in the 77th minute of today’s game against Brescia to a standing ovation from the Bianconeri fans.

Pjanic meanwhile faces a spell on the sidelines with a groin injury.

Rakitic: 'Pjanic underrated'

Barcelona’s Ivan Rakitic says Juventus midfielder Miralem Pjanic is one of the “most underrated footballers in the world” and he “would obviously like to play with Cristiano Ronaldo.”

The Croatian has been constantly linked with a move to Juve in the last several months, but a reported move in January never materialised.

Rakitic gave an interview to Bleacher Report and his comments have fuelled speculation once more over a move to Serie A.

Sarri: 'Juve pressure normal'

Juventus boss Maurizio Sarri says that if he didn’t want to feel pressure, he “would’ve taken a job at the post office” in the wake of recent league defeats.

The Bianconeri have lost their last two away games in a row, and speculation is mounting that the club will either bring back former coach Max Allegri or attempt to hire Pep Guardiola in the summer.

Sarri however says the pressure of the job comes with the territory.

Cobolli Gigli: 'Pjanic like mozzarella'

Former Juventus President Giovanni Cobolli Gigli says Miralem Pjanic is soft “like mozzarella” and wonders why Fabio Paratici tried to sell Paulo Dybala.

Cobolli Gigli was speaking to Radio Sportiva about his old side in the aftermath of their 2-1 defeat to Verona last weekend.

“I have always been critical of Maurizio Sarri, but I don’t like to kick a man when he is down,” Cobolli Gigli told the radio station.

“Paratici has said that Dybala is one of our best players, so why does he want to sell him?”
