Sturaro ‘to miss Juve-Napoli’

Stefano Sturaro will reportedly miss Juventus’ Serie A showdown with Napoli on Sunday after picking up an Achilles injury.

Sturaro lasted 68 minutes of Juve’s 1-1 draw with Crotone on Wednesday, and according to CalcioNews24, the midfielder sustained Achilles tendonitis in his left leg.

Although the 25-year-old will undergo tests in the next few hours, the website notes him forfeiting is ‘very likely’.

Miralem Pjanic, on the other hand, is considered ‘much more certain’ to make an appearance against Napoli.

Dybala dropped for Juve-Napoli?

Miralem Pjanic, Mario Mandzukic and Stefano Sturaro are in doubt to face Napoli, but Juventus could drop Paulo Dybala due to poor form.

There are now only four points separating the top two in Serie A ahead of Sunday’s Scudetto showdown.

Pjanic and Mandzukic missed last night’s 1-1 draw at Crotone due to injury and today they resumed training, albeit on a separate schedule from the rest of the squad.

Sturaro played at the Stadio Scida and he has been diagnosed with an Achilles tendon issue, so is unlikely to be fit in time for Sunday.

Juventus confident on Pjanic

Juventus are reportedly confident that Miralem Pjanic will be fit to face Napoli on Sunday night.

The Bosnian midfielder was forced off in the first half of the win over Sampdoria, and missed the draw with Crotone yesterday.

With Sunday’s match arguably the biggest of the Serie A season, it was feared that Pjanic would be out for that too, but Sky reports that Juve are confident of having him back.

Bernardeschi back for Juve

Mario Mandzukic and Miralem Pjanic are out of the Juventus squad to face Crotone on Wednesday evening, but Federico Bernardeschi makes his return.

Pjanic in doubt for Napoli

Juventus will reportedly be without Miralem Pjanic tomorrow night, while the Bosnian midfielder is also in doubt for Napoli.

The playmaker had to be taken off in the 3-0 win over Sampdoria at the weekend, with his replacement Douglas Costa setting up all three goals.

According to this morning’s Gazzetta dello Sport, Pjanic will certainly miss the trip to Crotone tonight, having skipped training yesterday.

While the former Roma man does’t have a serious injury, he’s also at risk for the Scudetto showdown with Napoli.

Allegri: 'Thanks, Pjanic!'

Max Allegri jokingly thanked Miralem Pjanic for getting injured against Sampdoria and tried to calm speculation on his Juventus future.

Douglas Costa came off the bench for Pjanic just before half-time and went on to provide three assists in the 3-0 victory.

“I have to thank Miralem Pjanic, as his injury allowed me to make the change,” smiled Allegri on Mediaset Premium.

Pjanic: ‘Incomprehensible decision’

Juventus midfielder Miralem Pjanic describes the penalty given to Real Madrid as “incomprehensible”.

The Bianconeri had fought back to level the tie after a 3-0 defeat in the first leg, but Medhi Benatia was adjudged to have fouled Lucas Vazquez in the last minute and referee Michael Oliver pointed to the spot.

Gianluigi Buffon was sent off for his protests, and Cristiano Ronaldo duly smashed the penalty into the top corner.

“We really gave everything,” Pjanic wrote on Instagram.

Juve consider 4-2-4 at Madrid?

Juventus are reportedly considering a 4-2-4 formation for Wednesday’s Champions League quarter-final second leg against Real Madrid.

According to Tuttosport, the 4-2-4 is one of two formations Juve could adopt when they try to overturn their 3-0 deficit at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The newspaper explains the first is a 4-3-3, with a midfield of Blaise Matuidi, Miralem Pjanic and Sami Khedira in midfield supporting Gonzalo Higuain and two of Douglas Costa, Juan Cuadrado and Mario Mandzukic up top.

Pjanic: ‘Juventus not giving up’

Miralem Pjanic insists Juventus “are not giving up anything” despite the 3-0 Champions League defeat to Real Madrid.

Pallotta: 'Roma had no choice'

Roma President Jim Pallotta hit back at critics claiming “the club is a supermarket. We had no choice” with Miralem Pjanic and Mohamed Salah.

The Giallorossi have shown a tendency to sell their top players every summer, most notably Pjanic to Juventus and Salah to Liverpool.
