Cassano: 'Only three Serie A champions'

Antonio Cassano claims there are “only three champions in Serie A,” so is keeping himself in shape for the right opportunity.

The 35-year-old forward hasn’t played since 2016, as he was involved in a contract dispute with Sampdoria, then signed for Hellas Verona in pre-season only to quit two weeks into training.

Now he wants a comeback and assures he’s been keeping himself in shape.

‘Juventus could change midfield’

Juventus Coach Max Allegri admits he switched to a midfield three because “we conceded a lot of goals” at the start of the season, but could change it tomorrow.

Miralem Pjanic is out injured for the trip to Verona, but with three central midfielders the Bianconeri have kept eight clean sheets in a row.

“There’s no ideal pair, because I have so many players who can play together,” Allegri explained in his Press conference today.

The Bianconeri are second in Serie A and haven’t conceded a goal in their last eight games, and they face the Butei tomorrow.

Juve sail through Scudetto challenges

On paper it seemed as if this month would be a minefield, but Adam Digby saw the Bianconeri squeeze the life out of their title rivals.

When the Serie A fixture list was revealed back in the summer, Juventus supporters were rightly concerned about their run of games during December. As the 2017-18 campaign got underway, their fears about facing Napoli, Inter and Roma during the final month of the year grew greater still, the three clubs emerging as genuine threats to the Old Lady’s dominance of Italian football.

Pjanic following Pirlo's footsteps

After a tricky start in the Juventus jersey, Miralem Pjanic is finally beginning to fulfil his promise as the heir to Andrea Pirlo, writes Emmet Gates.

At the Stadio Dall’Ara in Bologna on Sunday afternoon, Miralem Pjanic stood over a free kick for Juventus. The angle was tight, positioned on the outer reaches of the Bologna penalty area. Despite a well-earned reputation as one of the finest dead-ball specialists in the game, most assumed Pjanic would send the ball into the box. Even for a man of his talent, that was the better option. Wrong.

Pjanic set for Juve renewal?

Juventus have reportedly opened talks with Miralem Pjanic over a new contract for the midfielder.

According to Corriere di Torino, Pjanic is considered “at the heart” of Juve’s project and an agreement could even arrive “very soon”.

The 27-year-old, who scored a free kick during the Bianconeri’s 3-0 win at Bologna on Sunday, would also be in line for a pay rise.

Despite the clamour to tie him down, however, the Bosnian still has three-and-a-half years left on his current deal.
