Dzeko: 'Bosnia not at our best'

Roma captain Edin Dzeko has claimed his Bosnia ‘aren’t at our best in this particular time’ and didn’t want to focus on the transfer market. ‘Every year there’s talk about me leaving the Giallorossi’.

Italy face Bosnia-Herzegovina at the Artemio Franchi tomorrow and the captain Dzeko doesn’t expect any of the two sides to be 100 per cent ahead of the UEFA Nations League tie.

Azzurri return against revamped Bosnia

Italy hope to pick up where they left off, but Bosnia-Herzegovina are starting from scratch under a new coach and without their star midfielder, writes Owen Diana.

After what felt like an interminable 10-month wait, Italy finally return to action against Bosnia-Herzegovina on Friday evening in Florence for the Nations League.

The Azzurri racked up a record 11 consecutive victories before COVID-19 wreaked havoc on the international football calendar, and they will be eager to pick up where they left off at the Artemio Franchi. The visitors are not to be taken lightly, but Roberto Mancini’s men have the requisite attacking weapons to start their Nations League campaign on the right foot.

Pjanic: 'Take nothing for granted'

Miralem Pjanic admits his COVID-19 positive test has shown him to ‘never take anything for granted,’ as the ex-Juventus midfielder must delay his Barcelona move.

His experience with Barca hasn’t even started yet, as he was due to begin pre-season training next week.

Instead, he’ll have to self-isolate at home for 15 days before taking more tests and then flying out to Spain.

Barcelona: Pjanic has COVID-19

Former Juventus midfielder Miralem Pjanic has tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of his new career experience with Barcelona.

A statement from the Catalan club confirmed Pjanic had tested positive after feeling some symptoms on Saturday August 22.

The player will therefore remain isolated at home for 15 days and won’t be able to begin pre-season training with the Blaugrana.

It’s a blow for Pjanic, who was set to fly out next week.

Juventus players silent on Sarri

Miralem Pjanic wrote a goodbye message to Juventus, but none of the players have so far said a word about Maurizio Sarri’s dismissal.

The coach was fired this afternoon, a result of last night’s Champions League Round of 16 exit to Olympique Lyonnais.

It was Pjanic’s final game in the Bianconeri jersey ahead of his transfer to Barcelona.

Juve's Champions League curse continues

Juventus failed in Europe yet again, this time eliminated by a tactically-astute Lyon, but Elio Salerno saw problems that extend far beyond just Maurizio Sarri.

It was another night of misery in the Champions League for Juventus, as The Old Lady were again sent packing in Europe’s elite football competition. The feeling of disappointment will be overwhelming for Juventini, but what will perhaps hurt the most is that this latest elimination is not at all surprising.

Pjanic: 'Juventus have to do much more'

Miralem Pjanic concedes Lyon ‘really should’ve been within our grasp’ and Juventus need to ‘do much more’ in the Champions League.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s brace gave them a 2-1 win on the night, but that Memphis Depay penalty and the 1-0 first leg result in France saw Lyon go through on away goals.

“It’s hugely disappointing for us, as we really wanted to get through to the next phase and continue this competition,” Pjanic told Sky Sport Italia.

Plus ca change for Juve

Juventus fans and Maurizio Sarri will fear very little has realistically changed since the first leg defeat to Lyon, writes Kaustubh Pandey.

After the 1-0 loss to Lyon in the first leg of the Round of 16 of the Champions League, Maurizio Sarri seemed frustrated that his Juventus team couldn’t move the ball much quicker in midfield. That indeed was true, as the Bianconeri looked drab and rusty in the heart of the park and Lyon were happy to restrict them to playing harmless sideways passes for a majority of the game. A Lucas Tousart goal was enough to hand the French side a 1-0 victory.

Barcelona: 'Arthur behaviour unacceptable'

Barcelona President Josep Maria Bartomeu confirms the club is taking action against Arthur Melo for his ‘unacceptable’ refusal to play, while he’ll ‘earn triple’ his current salary at Juventus.

The two clubs completed the transfer last month, with Arthur signing on to Juve in exchange for Miralem Pjanic and €10m in cash, but the Brazilian was furious at feeling pushed out of Camp Nou.

“We had wanted to renew Arthur’s contract, but the economic situation is complicated,” Bartomeu told Spanish newspaper Sport.

Serie A season over for Pjanic

The Disciplinary Commission confirmed Juventus midfielder Miralem Pjanic has played his last Serie A match ahead of his move to Barcelona this summer.

The Bosnia international was included in a list of 11 players suspended for the last round of fixtures this weekend and Juventus’ opponents Roma must cope without Gianluca Mancini.

Cagliari will miss Marko Rog when they travel to San Siro for their last fixture on Saturday, but the home side will be without the influential attacker Ante Rebic.
