Quaison 'didn't expect' Iachini sack

Sweden international Robin Quaison admits he “really did not expect” Palermo to sack Beppe Iachini.

The Sicilian club pulled the plug on Coach Iachini last week and brought in Davide Ballardini, much to the chagrin of players and fans.

“In all honesty, I really did not expect Iachini to be fired, as I consider him to be a great Coach,” Quaison told reporters after returning from international duty.

Zamp: ‘Vazquez stays until June’

Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini reiterates Franco Vazquez will stay until the summer.

The Italian international has been heavily linked with Milan, with reports that the Rossoneri could sign him in January, but leave him in Sicily until the summer.

“He’s a player who is being looked at by many teams, but he won’t move in January,” Zamparini told Gr Parlamento.

Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini gave an expletive-filled interview insulting Enzo Maresca, Franco Vazquez and sacked Coach Beppe Iachini.

The patron did not hold back when speaking to Radio 24 about his controversial decision to fire Iachini, bringing in new tactician Davide Ballardini.

It was particularly contentious as players Maresca and Vazquez complained publicly on social media.

Ballardini: 'Why I'm back at Palermo'

New Palermo Coach Davide Ballardini explains why he returned to replace Beppe Iachini and work with Maurizio Zamparini again.

Iachini was sacked this morning, much to the consternation of fans and players, and Ballardini arrived at the Sicilian club HQ this evening.

It’s a return, as Ballardini was already called in to replace Stefano Colantuono in September 2008, took Palermo to eighth place in Serie A and promptly resigned in May 2009.

Zamparini: 'Iachini didn't believe'

Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini sacked Beppe Iachini “because he didn’t believe in the players and performances were shameful.”

The trigger-happy patron sent Iachini packing despite beating Chievo 1-0 on Sunday and brought in Davide Ballardini.

“I suffered making this decision, but watching the last few games you could tell why it had to be done,” Zamparini told Radio Kiss Kiss.
