Sky: Fiorentina want De Rossi as coach

Daniele De Rossi could begin his coaching career by taking on the Fiorentina job, claims Sky Sport Italia reporter Gianluca Di Marzio.

The World Cup winner has already said he plans to go into management, following in the footsteps of his father Alberto, who has been the coach of the Roma youth team for many years.

De Rossi only retired in January after experiences at Roma and Boca Juniors, and will turn 37 later this month.

Spalletti tipped for Fiorentina job

Luciano Spalletti is being linked with the Fiorentina job for next season, as Beppe Iachini is struggling to keep them out of the relegation zone.

The Viola are only six points clear of the bottom three following Wednesday’s home defeat to Sassuolo.

Iachini was already brought in to replace sacked Vincenzo Montella on December 23, but after four wins, five draws and four defeats, few realistically expect him to remain beyond this season.

Iachini: 'Too many Fiorentina mistakes'

Beppe Iachini admits Fiorentina paid a heavy price for defensive errors in the 3-1 loss to Sassuolo. ‘Perhaps fatigue is contributing to that.’

The Viola are still without a win since returning from the lockdown and were humiliated 3-1 on home turf by Sassuolo this evening.

“We continue to create so many scoring opportunities and it was the same today, it’s a pity,” Iachini told Sky Sport Italia.

Iachini: 'Caicedo was clever'

Beppe Iachini said Felipe Caicedo was ‘clever’ to earn a Lazio penalty, but Fiorentina ‘deserved a far better result’ than their 2-1 defeat.

The Biancocelesti fought back from a Franck Ribery solo effort to win 2-1, thanks to a very soft penalty awarded for Bartlomiej Dragowski’s challenge on Caicedo and a late Luis Alberto strike.

Iachini and Caceres banned for blasphemy

Fiorentina are without Federico Chiesa, Martin Caceres and coach Beppe Iachini against Lazio, but the latter pair have extra bans for blasphemy.

Caceres and Iachini were sent off during last night’s 1-1 draw with Brescia and are therefore suspended, while Chiesa received enough yellow cards this season to activate a ban.

However, Caceres has a two-match ban because after he was sent off, he ‘uttered a blasphemous phrase’ while leaving the field.

In the Italian language, the worst type of swearing is a particular blasphemous phrase.

Iachini: 'Fiorentina deserved victory'

Fiorentina coach Beppe Iachini feels they ‘did enough’ for three points and were only let down by finishing in a 1-1 draw with Brescia.

The Viola had numerous chances, despite going down to 10 men after Martin Caceres saw red, but also ultimately had to thank Bartlomiej Dragowski for a last-gasp save.

Serie A Seasons: Palermo 2015-16

Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini oversaw nine changes of management in the 2015-16 season, with dismissals, resignations, captains disowning coaches on live TV and a surprise finale.

Words: Martin Mork

Beppe Iachini entered the 2015-16 campaign as only the second coach to last an entire season at Palermo under Maurizio Zamparini. The other was Francesco Guidolin, who had overseen four different spells as Rosanero coach, resigning in two of them. “I take one day at a time,” said Iachini when appointed in October 2014 and he kept the job after steering the newly-promoted side to a respectable 11th place.
