Atalanta: 'Red would've changed game'

Atalanta director general Umberto Marino claims a refereeing decision “completely changed the game” in their 0-0 draw with Sampdoria.

Just before Ruslan Malinovskyi saw red for two bookable offences, Alex Ferrari was only shown a yellow card for his rugby tackle on Musa Barrow.

He seemed to be going clear on goal and it could have easily been interpreted as a goal-scoring opportunity.

Gasp: 'Atalanta outplayed City'

Gasp: 'Atalanta can get result'

Gian Piero Gasperini has expressed his belief that Atalanta “can get a result” against Manchester City tomorrow to stay in the Champions League.

Atalanta have lost all three of their group games so far, leaving them on the verge of elimination, while they were thrashed 5-1 by City last time out in the competition.

Nonetheless, Gasperini was in a buoyant mood at his Press conference on Monday, even if top goalscorer Duvan Zapata is still unavailable.

Gasperini: 'Ilicic stupid, but...'

Gian Piero Gasperini admits Atalanta “were below par” in a 2-0 defeat to Cagliari, but believes Josip Ilicic isn’t the only one who deserved to be sent off.

“We were below par and didn’t win any individual duels. It wasn’t a physical issue, because we kept pushing to the end, but unfortunately we lost this game in the first half and didn’t start on the right foot,” Gasp told DAZN.

Gasp: No penalty the right call

Gian Piero Gasperini feels Napoli were rightly denied a penalty against Atalanta but also that the Partenopei were “harder than Manchester City”.

'Grounded' Atalanta ready for Napoli test

Gian Piero Gasperini says his Atalanta remain “grounded” and see the showdown for third place with Napoli as "an advantage rather than a difficulty."

After a 7-1 haul at home to Udinese and another convincing performance leaving them within three points of league leaders Juventus, Gasperini understandably needs to address questions about the possibilities of competing with the top clubs this season.

That includes Wednesday's opponents, with Napoli looking to get one over their rivals on the San Paolo this week.
