Maran: 'Cagliari can't complain'

Rolando Maran believes Cagliari lacked motivation in their loss to Udinese tonight because they have been “safe for a while.”

The Rossoblu lost 2-1 to Le Zebrette at the Sardegna Arena, despite taking the lead through Leonardo Pavoletti’s 16th league goal of the season.

“I’m sorry for the loss tonight, but we’ve been safe for a while now,” said the Coach at his post-match Press conference.

Maran: 'Cagliari can be satisfied'

Cagliari Coach Rolando Maran believes that seeing some of the big names sitting below them in the table means his side “have had a good season.”

The Rossoblu welcome Udinese to the Sardegna Arena tonight for their final game of the year with both teams assured of playing in Serie A next term.

“Looking at the teams below us, our position in the table means we must have had a good season,” he said at his Press conference.

Maran: 'Cagliari apprehensive'

Rolando Maran celebrated Cagliari’s Serie A safety after a 1-1 draw at Genoa, but admits they have developed a “phobia” in away fixtures.

“We were virtually safe three or four weekends ago, but when it’s not mathematically guaranteed, there is always a little apprehension,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

Maran: I trust referees

Cagliari Coach Rolando Maran ‘trusts the referees’ but admits he is still disappointed about his dismissal against Napoli last week.

The 55-year-old was sent to the stands for complaining about a handball decision during the Sardinians’ 2-1 defeat to the Partenopei, so his assistant Christian Maraner will take his place in the dugout tomorrow.

“Of course, I would like to be with the team,” said Maran at a Press conference.

Cagliari: 'Two clubs want Barella'

Cagliari director Marcello Carli admits they turned down an Atletico Madrid offer for Nicolò Barella, but “two Italian clubs want him.”

The Italy international midfielder has been linked with the likes of Inter, Napoli, Roma and Arsenal.

“It’s a dream to keep Barella, but to be perfectly honest, I’m not sure if it’s achievable,” director of sport Carli told GianlucaDiMarzio.com.

Milan: Paqueta's season over

Lucas Paqueta’s season is over after the Milan midfielder was given a three-match ban for his red card against Bologna.

Paqueta had been booked for reacting badly to a foul during Milan’s 2-1 win on Monday, but he was then shown a straight red card for tapping the arm of referee Marco Di Bello.

The suspension means the Brazilian will miss the Rossoneri’s remaining Serie A fixtures against Fiorentina, Frosinone and SPAL.

Maran: 'Cagliari want Napoli revenge'

Rolando Maran celebrated his Cagliari contract extension and found “extra motivation” against Napoli, as December’s defeat still hurts.

It kicks off at 19.30 UK time (18.30 GMT).

The Sardinians have already secured their mathematical safety and celebrated by tying down the Coach to a new contract until June 2022.

“I was very pleased to receive such a strong show of faith from President Tommaso Giulini and continue the journey we’ve had so far with clear ideas,” said Maran in his Press conference.

Official: Maran commits to Cagliari

Cagliari have announced that Coach Rolando Maran has extended his contract with the club until 2022.

Maran only took charge of Cagliari last summer, but a run of six wins in 11 matches has lifted the Rossoblu to 11th in Serie A, all-but-guaranteeing their safety.

“Maran got stuck into his new role with enthusiasm, appreciated for his professional and human qualities,” read an official statement.
