Milito: 'Excellent opportunity for Lautaro'

Former Inter star Diego Milito has argued it would be an ‘excellent opportunity’ for Lautaro Martinez to play with Lionel Messi at Barcelona.

Milito, who scored a brace when Inter beat Bayern Munich in the Champions League Final in 2010, has claimed the 22-year-old is already at San Siro because of his proven qualities, but suggested that the possibility of partnering Messi at Camp Nou could tempt the youngster.

The Derby that inspired Inter's Treble

Football Italia Chief Correspondent Richard Hall looks back at where Jose Mourinho’s Treble-winning Inter came to life, with a 4-0 Derby della Madonnina triumph.

The opening day draw with Bari was a shock in the 2009-10 season. It had taken a Samuel Eto’o penalty to claw the Nerazzurri back into the game after Vitalii Kutuzov had put the home side in front. The Champions scratched their heads as they had also suffered defeat in the Supercoppa Italiana in China against Lazio. Jose Mourinho was very much aware that his team needed a response, especially as the next game was the Derby Della Madonnina.

'Genoa nearly signed Lewandowski'

Former Genoa sporting director Stefano Capozucca has confessed that he almost signed Robert Lewandowski in 2010.

Lewandowski was still playing in his native Poland for Lech Poznan at the time, and Capozucca claims he was Genoa’s until President Enrico Preziosi ‘pulled the plug’.

“The deal was done for Lewandowski in 2010,” he told Radio Sportiva.

“[Gian Piero] Gasperini knew him well. He still had to undergo a medical, but then the President pulled the plug.”

“The coach’s past doesn’t interest us Inter fans,” the Nerazzurri hero told Gazzetta dello Sport.
