Marotta: Joining Inter 'possible'

Former Juventus CEO Beppe Marotta confirms it is ‘possible’ that he will become Inter’s new general manager.

Marotta had been heavily linked with Inter since leaving Juve last month, and he revealed at an award ceremony in Veneto on Monday that the Nerazzurri were an option.

Sport Mediaset writes the 61-year-old would take control of the Beneamata’s sporting area, collaborating with CEO Alessandro Antonello.

Inter v Juventus for Barella

Cagliari midfielder Nicolò Barella is at the centre of a bidding war between Juventus and Inter, with Beppe Marotta playing a key role.

According to Tuttosport, the 21-year-old Italy international will be on the market next summer and the main contenders are Inter and Juve.

Marotta was until last week the director general of Juventus, but he was pushed out of the post and is widely expected to sign for Inter within weeks or even days.

OFFICIAL: Marotta leaves Juve

Beppe Marotta is free to become Inter’s new CEO after officially terminating his contract with Juventus.

A statement on Juve’s official website read ties between them and Marotta, as well as fellow director Aldo Mazzia, had been ‘severed’.

Furthermore, the 61-year-old will receive €361,775 in compensation from the Bianconeri, with Mazzia pocketing €278,000.

The former Sampdoria executive has been heavily linked with leading Inter’s new-look board alongside Steven Zhang.

Report: Marotta agrees Inter role

Beppe Marotta has reportedly agreed to become Inter’s new general manager but must first negotiate his exit from Juventus.

According to Calciomercato.com, an agreement between Marotta and Inter ‘has existed for some time’ and ‘will be formalised once he has terminated his contract with Juve.’

Inter will push for Luka Modric again in future, aided by the arrival of former Juventus director general Beppe Marotta.

New President Steven Zhang, the son and one of the heirs to the Suning Group fortune, officially replaced Erick Thohir this week and has big plans.

One of the first issues under discussion will be the arrival of Marotta, who was effectively pushed out of Juventus by President Andrea Agnelli.

It has been widely reported that Marotta has already been in talks with Inter and specifically with Zhang for the new role at San Siro.

Steven Zhang will be named Inter’s new President on Friday and could reportedly be joined on the club’s board by Beppe Marotta.

Zhang [pictured, left] will be sworn in during Inter’s annual shareholders’ meeting, bringing an end to Erick Thohir’s five-year tenure.

However, the Indonesian had been marginalised by Suning Group since its takeover in 2016 and is ready to sell his 31 percent stake in the Nerazzurri.

Massimo Moratti claims Inter’s last-gasp victory over Milan in the Derby della Madonnina ‘reminded me a bit of the Treble winners’.

Mauro Icardi’s 92nd-minute header was the difference between Inter and Milan on Sunday, and Moratti firmly believed his former club were on ‘the right track’ towards being successful again.

Gravina: 'Marotta open to FIGC'

FIGC Presidential candidate Gabriele Gravina confirms ex-Juventus CEO Beppe Marotta “is open” to taking a role with the Federation.

Marotta was named Best Executive at the World Football Forum, yet pushed out of the club only a few days later with his mandate not renewed.

“I did talk to Marotta and he is open to a role,” sole candidate for the FIGC Presidency Gravina told reporters.

Man Utd contact Marotta

Manchester United are the latest club to have reportedly contacted former Juventus CEO Beppe Marotta after Inter and Arsenal.

According to The Independent newspaper, Manchester United have called on Marotta to see what his plans are.

The Premier League club is planning to add another chief to the staff rather than just a director of football, taking some of the responsibilities off manager Jose Mourinho.
