Marotta: 'Juve in Howedes talks'

Juventus director Beppe Marotta commented on the Champions League draw, denied an Andre Gomes bid, but Benedikt Howedes is “more than a hypothesis.”

The Bianconeri have been drawn with Barcelona, Olympiakos and Sporting CP.

“Every group has its dangers, the important thing is to reach every game in the right frame of mind. They are all tough opponents and the most important thing is how we approach it,” Marotta told Mediaset Premium.

Marotta: My message for Cardiff…

Beppe Marotta says Juventus “are even more determined” to win the Champions League as the club must “only win or learn”, not lose.

Looking back at Juve’s 4-1 defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League Final last season, Marotta acknowledged it as his “biggest disappointment” but cited a famous Nelson Mandela phrase when trying to draw the positives from cardiff.

“The most compelling victory remains the conquest of our first title in Trieste,” the general manager told Il Sole 24.

Not so super Juventus

Just as they did in Cardiff, Juventus looked woefully short of answers as they lost the Supercoppa Italiana, writes Adam Digby.

“Fino alla fine” has long been the motto of Juventus. Embroidered on shirts and sung by supporters, the phrase – meaning “until the end” – captures the relentless drive of the Bianconeri, a team who never ever give up.
