Juve 'withdraw for Keita'

Juventus director Beppe Marotta claims they “made an offer we consider fair to Lazio, so we have withdrawn” their interest in Keita Balde Diao.

The Bianconeri are believed to have made an offer of €15-20m, but the Aquile want €30m.

“Keita is an opportunity that, for contractual conditions and age, all clubs must at least try to take, with all due respect for President Claudio Lotito and Lazio,” Marotta told news agency Ansa.

Not so super Juventus

Just as they did in Cardiff, Juventus looked woefully short of answers as they lost the Supercoppa Italiana, writes Adam Digby.

“Fino alla fine” has long been the motto of Juventus. Embroidered on shirts and sung by supporters, the phrase – meaning “until the end” – captures the relentless drive of the Bianconeri, a team who never ever give up.

Matuidi wrong man for Juve

Juventus want a new midfielder, but Blaise Matuidi is not the answer, writes Vincent Van Genechten.

The Juventus midfield has been somewhat of an enigma the past few seasons. Fans of the Old Lady will fondly remember the trio of Andrea Pirlo, Arturo Vidal and Paul Pogba roaming the pitch in 2015. The first two were let go and Manchester United made former player Pogba the most expensive footballer ever last summer.

In came Miralem Pjanic in a stunning Juve move, weakening scudetto rivals Roma with one swift transfer. The Bosnian maestro was paired with Sami Khedira, as Claudio Marchisio battled another injury riddled period. With splendid success.

Marotta: 'Bonucci wanted Milan'

Juventus director Beppe Marotta said keeping Leonardo Bonucci “against his will would’ve been counter-productive” after the Milan transfer.

The shock move developed very quickly for €42m after seven years in Turin.

“With Bonucci we accepted his personal and professional desire, which was to join Milan. There was the feeling he could go. It was not about incidents so much as motivation that was lacking.

“We have found that keeping players against their will is counter-productive,” Marotta told Sky Sport Italia.
