Throwback: Inter reach CL final

If there’s such a thing as a heroic defeat, Inter achieved it with their 1-0 loss to Barcelona on April 28, 2010.

The Nerazzurri had beaten Pep Guardiola’s side 3-1 at San Siro, but Pedro’s 19th-minute away goal meant the Blaugrana were confident of progressing.

Barça had swept all before them the previous season, winning the treble in Guardiola’s first season as a Coach.

“There’s no-one of his level in Italy, and he can play on par with the German champions, though maybe he plays in a different role for the Azzurri.

Motta rooting for Balotelli

Thiago Motta admits he is rooting for Mario Balotelli to do Paris Saint-Germain a favour when Nice host Monaco on Wednesday and return to the Italy squad.

Balotelli scored twice on his Nice debut a fortnight ago before being criticised by the French Press for his subsequent display against Schalke in the Europa League, but Motta believes the striker has what it takes to bounce back in the top-of-the-table Ligue 1 clash.

“I hope Mario has a good game on a personal level, against Monaco,” he is quoted as saying by Tuttomercatoweb.
