D'Ambrosio out of Napoli-Inter

Danilo D’Ambrosio has been ruled out of the game against Napoli, as Inter confirmed a muscular injury, while Fabian Ruiz has flu.

Their first Serie A match of 2020 is due to kick off on Monday at 19.45 GMT.

A statement from the Nerazzurri announced D’Ambrosio has been diagnosed with a muscular issue in his right thigh following a training session.

He will be evaluated in more detail next week, effectively ruling him out of the trip to the Stadio San Paolo.

Conte: 'Electric' Dortmund clash

Antonio Conte is expecting an "electric" atmosphere when Inter travel to play Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League tomorrow evening.

Both sides are level on four points in their Champions League group after three games, although Inter are ahead in second place, courtesy of their 2-0 victory over Dortmund last time out. 

"It will be an important match, we have the same number of points as Dortmund, while I think Barcelona are already in the next round," Conte said at a Press conference.

D'Ambrosio: 'Fractured my toe'

Inter full-back Danilo D’Ambrosio is expected to leave the Italy camp after an injury. “I fear I’ve fractured my little toe.”

He suffered several knocks during Saturday’s 2-0 win over Greece at the Stadio Olimpico, which secured qualification for Euro 2020.

“I did get a bruise to my right knee, but the real problem is that I fear I’ve fractured my little toe on my left foot,” D’Ambrosio told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

D'Ambrosio: 'Inter wanted derby more'

Danilo D’Ambrosio maintains Inter got the better of Milan in the Derby della Madonnina because “we proved we wanted it more.”

The Nerazzurri emerged 2-0 winners thanks to Marcelo Brozovic and Romelu Lukaku goals last night, but also rattled the woodwork three times.

“The derby is won by whoever wants it more and we proved that we wanted it more,” D’Ambrosio told Sky Sport Italia.

Italy: D'Ambrosio in for De Sciglio

After Giorgio Chiellini, now his Juventus teammate Mattia De Sciglio has also pulled out of the Italy squad, replaced by Inter’s Danilo D’Ambrosio.

The Azzurri go into Euro 2020 qualifiers against Armenia and Finland.

Coach Roberto Mancini has already been forced into one change after Chiellini tore his ACL in training, an injury that will keep him out for around six months.

The veteran made way for Lazio centre-back Francesco Acerbi.

Agent: 'Inter appreciate D'Ambrosio'

Danilo D’Ambrosio has agreed a contract extension, as his agent said Inter “refused to even negotiate” when offers arrived.

The versatile defender can play in a central role, as a full-back, wing-back on the right or left.

“There was just a chat with the director and then they proved how much they appreciate Danilo. It was a sign of recognition for the player and that was very pleasing,” his agent Vincenzo Pisacane. told FCInter1908.

D'Ambrosio to renew with Inter

Inter reportedly plan to extend the contract of full-back Danilo D’Ambrosio until 2022.

According to Sky Sport Italia’s Fabrizio Romano, Inter have offered an extra year to D’Ambrosio.

Furthermore, the 30-year-old’s agent and club officials will meet on Wednesday to finalise the deal.

The Neapolitan joined the Nerazzurri from Torino for around €4m in January 2014.

He has gone on to cement his place in the side, playing 38 times between League and cup competitions last season.
