Sampdoria all-clear from COVID-19

Sampdoria have announced that all the players who had previously tested positive are now free of COVID-19.

The Serie A club was unusual in that it refused to confirm how many of its players and members of staff had contracted the virus.

Manolo Gabbiadini was the first at Marassi to test positive on March 12, followed by Albin Ekdal, Antonino La Gumina, Morten Thorsby, Jakub Jankto, Fabio Depaoli and Bartosz Bereszynski.

Omar Colley had initially been named as positive, but later revealed a second test had cleared him.

Ferrero: 'Players are not machines'

Sampdoria patron Massimo Ferrero has joined the debate about the possible resumption and claimed the players ‘are not machines to be turned off and on again’.

Gabbiadini 'tormented' by coronavirus fear

Manolo Gabbiadini was the second Serie A player to test positive for the Coronavirus and reveals he had practically no symptoms. “I’m tormented by the idea I could’ve infected others and how many people felt fine just like me.”

The striker is one of several who tested positive at Sampdoria between players and staff, as the club has now stopped updating in order to avoid causing ‘public concern.’

However, Gabbiadini told La Gazzetta dello Sport that his story is important to pass on so others realise the situation.

Depaoli latest Samp player with Coronavirus

Sampdoria full-back Fabio Depaoli confirms he too has tested positive for Coronavirus. “This is an invisible monster that is attacking without distinction.”

He is the sixth Samp player to test positive, although a statement released by the club today warned they would not be giving any more updates, in order to avoid causing further “concern.”

However, Depaoli took to Instagram in order to announce the news himself, following teammates Manolo Gabbiadini, Omar Colley, Albin Ekdal, Antonino La Gumina and Morten Thorsby.

Sampdoria stop Coronavirus updates

Sampdoria, who had five players test positive for Coronavirus, announced they won’t give any further updates to “avoid creating further public alarm.”

The Blucerchiati are the hardest-hit by the pandemic so far in Serie A, as Manolo Gabbiadini was the second player to test positive after Juventus defender Daniele Rugani.

Yesterday, Sampdoria announced that Omar Colley, Albin Ekdal, Antonino La Gumina, Morten Thorsby and club doctor Amedeo Baldari had all tested positive too.

Pezzella and Cutrone contract Coronavirus

Fiorentina players Patrick Cutrone and German Pezzella have both tested positive for the Coronavirus, following the announcement last night that Dusan Vlahovic has also tested positive.

Fiorentina announced last night that striker Vlahovic tested positive for the COVID-19 virus, as the Coronavirus is otherwise known as.

Vlahovic follows Juventus’ Daniele Rugani and five Sampdoria players, Omar Colley, Albin Ekdal, Antonino La Gumina, Manolo Gabbiadini and Morten Thorsby in contracting the virus.

Vlahovic tests positive for Coronavirus

Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic has been tested positive for the Coronavirus, the club has announced.

Vlahovic has become the latest professional footballer player to contract the disease.

Juventus defender Daniele Rugani was the first in Serie A to test positive for the disease.

Four Sampdoria players contract Coronavirus

A further four Sampdoria players have tested positive for the Coronavirus, following Manolo Gabbiadini’s admission yesterday that he has the virus.

Italian football journalist Fabrizio Romano broke the news on Twitter that Omar Colley, Albin Ekdal, Antonino La Gumina and Morten Thorsby have all tested positive for the virus.

This follows Gabbiadini’s admission yesterday that the striker also has the Coronavirus.

West Ham self-isolate staff in contact with Arteta

West Ham have confirmed that the personnel in direct contact with Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta are now in self-isolation.

Arsenal confirmed that their Spanish coach Arteta has tested positive for COVID-19 and later it was announced that Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi also had contracted the virus.

Verona upgrade self-isolation

Hellas Verona confirm their squad, staff and directors have gone into self-isolation after Sampdoria striker Manolo Gabbiadini tested positive for Coronavirus.

Gabbiadini played for an hour in the 2-1 Serie A win over Verona at Marassi at the weekend, a game that was played behind closed doors.

In an updated statement, Verona announce they have taken all the necessary procedures to limit possible infection.
