‘Napoli like Consigli, but…’

Andrea Consigli’s agent confirms Napoli’s interest in the Sassuolo goalkeeper but “there’s nothing concrete and advanced”.

The Partenopei are looking for a ‘keeper to replace Pepe Reina, and it’s widely expected that will be Udinese’s Alex Meret.

Given that he’s only 21-years-old though, they also want to sign an experienced alternative.

It has been suggested that current backup Luigi Sepe could be exchanged for Consigli, but it appears that’s premature.

Sassuolo prove modern football's beauty

Richard Hall gives credit to Sassuolo’s debut in the Europa League and the long hard struggle it celebrates.

Whilst the rest of the world trawled the internet waiting for the announcement of Paul Pogba’s supposed world record transfer to Manchester United and the café’s and bars around Italy were engulfed in talk about Gonzalo Higuain, another story was being played out. In Luzern, Switzerland, Sassuolo were taking part in their first European outing, and whilst this may not be front page news, it is certainly a story worth telling. This is the other side of modern football, where hard work, good planning and a model set up on good business can allow fans to dream.
