Ferrero: 'I offered Samp role to Vialli'

Sampdoria President Massimo Ferrero is confident they can avoid relegation and reveals he had offered Gianluca Vialli the club Presidency.

Ferrero denies Samp sale talks

Sampdoria President Massimo Ferrero has denied reports he is in negotiations to sell the Serie A club. ‘That’s simply not true.’

A takeover bid by Gianluca Vialli’s consortium was rejected a few months ago and rumours emerged today that Ferrero was back in talks with a different group of investors.

“That’s simply not true,” Ferrero told TeleNord. “I can categorically deny this story.”

Samp are currently in 16th place in the Serie A table, one point clear of the relegation zone.

Ferrero: 'I dreamt of Roma'

Sampdoria patron Massimo Ferrero defines himself as a ‘street artist’ and reveals he had been dreaming of taking over his local club Roma.

Ferrero, who took over the Blucerchiati in June 2014, grew up in the Testaccio neighbourhood in Rome and has revealed he imagined running the Giallorossi.

“But in the end, it didn’t happen,” he told La Repubblica. “It’s true, I dreamt of taking over the club, but in a distant day.

Ferrero: 'Forget this season'

Sampdoria owner Massimo Ferrero has advised Serie A clubs to ‘roll our sleeves up and have a great 2020-21 campaign’ instead of fighting for a restart.

The FIGC and Lega Serie A are in agreement over resuming the current campaign, but COVID-19 is not expected to clear up any time soon and Netherlands has already taken the decision to stop its professional leagues.

Ferrero: 'I'd be guinea pig for vaccine'

Sampdoria President Massimo Ferrero made an extraordinary pledge during the coronavirus pandemic. “I’d be a guinea pig for a vaccine if it meant we could play again.”

The plans are being drawn up to resume the Serie A season from May 30, but games would be behind closed doors for many more months.

“If they want, I’d be a guinea pig for a vaccine if it meant we could play again,” Ferrero told TMW Radio.

Ranieri: 'Any decision will bring chaos'

Sampdoria coach Claudio Ranieri said President Massimo Ferrero ‘awaits a decision from above’ but claimed ‘any decision will bring chaos’.

The Blucerchiati have been one of the hardest-hit sides in Serie A but the coach confirmed that the infected players ‘have all recovered’ after testing positive for coronavirus.

“They have all recovered, it was not nice to hear that they were infected. Thanking God, I spoke to them from time to time, in strength and in spirit,” he told Radio Anch’io Sport.

Ferrero: 'Season should end here'

Serie A has been suspended for over two weeks in light of the Coronavirus.

Italy has been the most affected country in Europe, with the death toll now standing at nearly 7,000 people.

Samp patron Massimo Ferrero believes that this season should be annulled and that 2020-21 should have a 22-team league.
