Osti: 'Quagliarella has a pact with Ferrero'

Sampdoria sporting director Carlo Osti has revealed Fabio Quagliarella ‘has a pact’ with President Massimo Ferrero.

Quagliarella was linked with former club Juventus in recent weeks, but the sporting director said the veteran ‘illuminates’ the Blucerchiati and ‘has a pact’ with the patron regarding the renewal.

“Quagliarella is a very important player, there’s not much to add,” Osti told Sky Sport Italia. “I have always said that he illuminates Sampdoria as the lantern illuminates Genoa.

Ferrero: 'An exciting Serie A'

Sampdoria President Massimo Ferrero says Serie A has been ‘exciting’ this term and hopes the public can be a part of it in 2021.

The Blucerchiati are 10th in Serie A after 13 games and host Sassuolo on Wednesday, after back-to-back wins against Hellas Verona and Crotone.

The patron said the 2020-21 season is very competitive and claimed it’s more ‘exciting’ than before.

“We are all happy when we win, and unhappy when we lose,” Ferrero told TMW Radio. “It’s really difficult, it’s a war.

Candreva back for Samp tomorrow?

The peace has reportedly been restored at Sampdoria and Antonio Candreva could possibly be called up for the match against Crotone tomorrow.

Sky Sport Italia reports President Massimo Ferrero has intervened, and Antonio Candreva met with sporting director Carlo Osti and coach Claudio Ranieri today.

Sampdoria patron Massimo Ferrero said coach Claudio Ranieri is safe at the Marassi but admitted they had ‘discussed the performance’ against Torino.

Antonio Candreva and Fabio Quagliarella helped Sampdoria turn the game around at the Grande Torino, but the Granata equalised and claimed a point in the 2-2 draw.

The President reassured Ranieri’s position at the club is not under any threat, despite a run of five games without a win, including the Coppa Italia exit against local rivals Genoa.

Ferrero receives death threats

Sampdoria President Massimo Ferrero is pressing charges after receiving bullets and threatening letters in the post.

The club patron has repeatedly been urged to sell by ultras, especially after negotiations with an American group led by former striker Gianluca Vialli failed.

According to news agency ANSA, Ferrero received bullets, notes threatening his life as well as banners placed around his home promising to ‘visit’ him.

Candreva: 'I bring experience'

Sampdoria winger Antonio Candreva thanked coach Claudio Ranieri and patron Massimo Ferrero and hopes to help Fabio Quagliarella ‘score many goals’.

The former Inter man has moved to the Blucerchiati this summer and chipped in with an assist in his first game at the Marassi.

“Starting this new experience is nice,” he told the club’s official website. “I have a lot of enthusiasm and desire to do well.

“My new teammates have welcomed me, and the negotiations were quick. I was already talking to Quagliarella.

Ferrero: 'Keita is a Sampdoria player'

Sampdoria President Massimo Ferrero confirms Keita Balde Diao will arrive from Monaco, while they are ‘working on’ Inter winger Antonio Candreva.

Keita is set to join on loan for €1m with an option to buy for €10-12m at the end of the season.

“I consider Keita Balde to be a Sampdoria player and he will have his medical over the next few days,” Ferrero told Sky Sport Italia.

The President was also asked about Candreva, who is on the way out of Inter, but considering other offers as well.

Ferrero: 'I won't give Colley away'

Sampdoria President Massimo Ferrero warns he ‘won’t give away’ defender Omar Colley, amid Celtic, West Ham and Leicester City interest.

The Gambia international has an asking price of at least €10m and that seems to be inflexible.

“Why should I just give Colley away?” Ferrero told the Secolo XIX newspaper.
