Official: Hallfredsson leaves Frosinone

Iceland midfielder Emil Hallfredsson has officially terminated his contract with Frosinone.

Hallfredsson only signed a two-year contract with Frosinone last summer but has not played since October 5 due to a knee injury.

The 34-year-old underwent keyhole surgery in December but is still recovering from the operation.

Hallfredsson has spent the majority of his career in Italy, making almost 300 appearances for Reggina, Verona and Udinese.

Hallfredsson out for four months

Frosinone midfielder Emil Hallfredsson will be out of action for at least three months after keyhole surgery on his right knee.

A statement from the club confirmed that he underwent the operation to clean up scar tissue around the tendon in the right knee.

Following surgery in Barcelona, the recovery time is estimated to be around three to four months.

The 34-year-old Iceland international has made six Serie A appearances this season, plus one in the Coppa Italia.

Hallfredsson: ‘Oddo didn’t trust me’

Udinese midfielder Emil Hallfredsson admits Massimo Oddo “didn’t believe in me”.

The central midfielder, who is going to the World Cup with Iceland, but was dropped when the former Milan man was Coach of the Zebrette.

Did he fear losing his place in Russia?

“No, never,” Hallfredsson insisted, speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport.

“We’ve had the same team for years, the group is never in question, whether someone plays a little or a lot for their club.

Hallfredsson in Iceland World Cup squad

Iceland have named their 23-man squad for the 2018 World Cup, including Udinese midfielder Emil Hallfredsson.

This is their first foray into the biggest tournament in international football, having reached their first European Championship in 2016.

Iceland are in Group D with Argentina, Nigeria and Croatia.

They have included Gylfi Sigurdsson and Aron Gunnarsson, despite currently being injured.

Hallfredsson renews with Udinese

Udinese have announced that Emil Hallfredsson has renewed his contract until June 30, 2020.

The Icelandic centre-back made his 50th appearance for the Zebrette in the Coppa Italia against Napoli in midweek, and has signed a two year extension to his current deal.

“We are happy to continue our journey together with Hallfredsson,” said director general Franco Collavino in a statement on the club’s official website.

“It’s significant that this signature arrives a few days after his fiftieth appearance in our shirt.

Udinese invite fan after shirt theft

A 10-year-old Udinese fan had his Emil Hallfredsson jersey stolen, so the midfielder has pledged to replace it in person.

As part of a promotion, an entire class of kids from a local school attended Sunday’s 4-1 win over Palermo and one lucky fellow caught Hallfredsson’s shirt when it was thrown into the stands at the final whistle.

However, his luck ran out seconds later when an adult snatched it from his hands.

Official: Udinese sign Hallfredsson

Hellas Verona have officially sold Iceland international Emil Hallfredsson to Udinese and he wrote an open letter to fans.

The 31-year-old midfielder completed the transfer following this morning’s medical.

The transfer fee is reported to be in the region of €1m and his contract runs to June 2018.

“Dear Verona fans, I had the best years of my life here and not just in a sporting sense,” wrote Hallfredsson in an open letter.

Hallfredsson to Udinese

Emil Hallfredsson is reportedly on the verge of leaving Hellas Verona to join Udinese.

The 31-year-old Iceland international midfielder is set to have a medical with the Friulani tomorrow.

The transfer fee is believed to be in the region of €1m.

Hallfredsson has been in Italy since 2007 at Reggina and then Hellas Verona.

Before that he had spells at Tottenham, Malmo, FK Lyn and Barnsley.
