Maradona 'left in agony' by medics

An inquest has found Napoli hero Diego Armando Maradona would’ve had ‘a better chance of survival’ if he’d received proper medical care and was left in ‘agony’ for at least 12 hours before his death.

The Argentina legend had just come out of hospital when he died at his home from heart failure in November, aged just 60.

'Maradona's death could have been avoided'

Diego Maradona's doctors could be charged with manslaughter as a medical report highlights the Napoli legend did not receive proper medical care.

Maradona died from a heart attack on November 25, 2020 and had had brain surgery to remove a blood clot three weeks earlier.

A medical report underwent by a commission named by the Argentinean legal authorities highlights the death of the former Napoli and Barcelona striker could have been avoided, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Naples metro station named after Maradona

Not only was the Stadio San Paolo renamed Stadio Diego Armando Maradona today, but a metro station also became part of a Napoli Museum.

The local council rushed through the plans to call the stadium after Maradona just days after his death last month at the age of 60.

That wasn’t the only tribute, though, because the Cumana metro station has also been renamed the Mostra-Stadio Maradona stop.

It has become a sort of museum in itself, with artwork all along the walls depicting moments from Napoli’s history.

Could Maradona have been saved?

Horrific details are emerging in reports about Diego Armando Maradona’s physical condition and care in the days before his death, as there is an investigation into his doctors for manslaughter.

The Napoli and Argentina icon died last week at the age of 60, just weeks after leaving hospital following surgery to remove a blood clot in his brain.

According to La Repubblica newspaper, Maradona was in such poor physical condition that he really should’ve been an intensive care ward and not simply allowed to go home, even with medical staff observing him.
