Osti: ‘No Soriano offers’

Sampdoria sporting director Carlo Osti admits they’ll “evaluate” offers for Roberto Soriano but “right now there’s nothing”.

The midfielder almost joined Napoli on transfer deadline day, but the deal could not be completed in time, and he has also been linked with Juventus.

“He has a release clause of €15m,” Osti pointed out in an interview with Il Secolo XIX.

Zenga: ‘No Samp bitterness’

Walter Zenga says there is “no bitterness” after his Sampdoria sacking, but defends his training methods.

The former goalkeeper was dismissed by the Blucerchiati last month, with Vincenzo Montella replacing him on the Marassi bench.

“Sampdoria? There’s no bitterness,” Zenga explained to Radio Sportiva.

“When you begin a journey together, with a year on the contract, things can go well or not work. From day one there was no feeling with [President Massimo] Ferrero.

Samp deny Cassano tantrum

Sampdoria released a statement denying reports Antonio Cassano stormed out of a training session.

La Gazzetta dello Sport claimed the forward was furious at being benched for the 4-1 defeat to Milan on Saturday evening.

The story suggested Cassano shouted at his teammates after the morning training session and then left his teammates behind, also snubbing autograph hunters.

Sampdoria released a statement today denying the story and assured “the player completed a regular training session and returned to the hotel in the team bus.”

Montella: 'Samp lack confidence'

Vincenzo Montella said Sampdoria “are lacking confidence” after a 1-0 defeat to Udinese on his debut.

The Coach took over this week from sacked Walter Zenga, but his first game in charge was disappointing.

“The team tried to do some good things and we had more possession with a few chances too,” Montella told Sky Sport Italia.

Antonio Cassano exchanged words with Giuseppe Rossi during Sampdoria-Fiorentina: 'I'm happy for you, but I'm doing terrible'.

The 33-year-old replaced Roberto Soriano in the last ten minutes of the game, but was unable to make a dent on the Viola's 2-0 lead.

Meeting his Nazionale teammate Rossi in the half-time break, he hugged him and told him, “I'm happy for you,” in reference to the many injuries that Pepito has finally overcome.
