Cassano: ‘Could have gone to Genoa’

Antonio Cassano reveals he could have joined Genoa in 2007, before signing for city rivals Sampdoria.

FantAntonio spent three-and-a-half seasons with the Blucerchiati in his first spell, before returning in the 2015-16 season.

“Lets face it, I’ve never denied that Sampdoria was the team and the club that changed my life,” Cassano told Il Secolo XIX.

“First of all because that’s where I met Carolina [his wife], and because I was coming from that period at Real Madrid.

'Icardi wouldn't have played in 1999'

Antonio Cassano claims Italian sides are not good enough to adopt ‘guardiolismo’ and that Mauro Icardi ‘wouldn’t have played’ for Inter in 1999.

Icardi has established himself as one of Europe’s top strikers, but Cassano made it clear the Argentine would not have displaced Ronaldo and Christian Vieri at Inter, while describing the level of Serie A as ‘low’.

Antonio Cassano has retired from football – again – but had time for another typically no-filter interview. “All the players suck nowadays.”

The 36-year-old had only joined Virtus Entella for training a week ago and was yet to sign a contract, but this morning released a statement confirming he had decided to call it a day.

Cassano: 'This time it's really over'

Antonio Cassano has announced his retirement from football, just days after starting training with Virtus Entella.

This is the second time that FantAntonio has come out of retirement, joined a new club and then abandoned it within two weeks, as he did the same at Hellas Verona.

“Dear friends,” read Cassano’s statement released via reporter Pierluigi Pardo.

“The day has come, the day when you decide it really is over. I thank President Gozzi and the Entella lads for the opportunity they allowed me. I wish them all the best.

‘Cassano has grown up’

Virtus Entella Coach Roberto Boscaglia says there’s been “a lack of respect” for his team, but assures Antonio Cassano “has grown up”.

Entella have played one Serie C game this season, but they’re appealing to be readmitted to Serie B and have been barred from playing in the interim.

The situation won’t be resolved until at least the end of this month, during which time the squad must play friendlies to keep their fitness up.

Cassano makes Entella debut

Antonio Cassano provided three assists on his debut with Virtus Entella in a friendly against local side Rivarolese.

The 36-year-old was only on the pitch for 20 minutes, but made his mark by setting up his new teammates for three goals.

Cassano has not technically signed for Entella yet, but did start training with them this week.

He has been a free agent since January 2017, although he did sign for Hellas Verona in July 2017 only to leave two weeks into pre-season training.

Cassano: ‘Milan, sign Ibra!’

Antonio Cassano urges Milan to get Zlatan Ibrahimovic from LA Galaxy “right away”.

The Swedish striker has been linked with a loan move in January, with the regular season concluding at the end of this month.

FantAntonio played with Ibra during his spell with the Rossoneri, and is fully behind the idea of his return.

“If I were Milan I’d get him right away,” Cassano told SportMediaset.

“If the possibility was really there, I’m sure Gattuso would go and get him in person!

Antonio Cassano assures “I’ve grown up” as he returns to training with Virtus Entella - "I don't want to disappoint anyone".

Cassano 'happy to be training again'

Antonio Cassano thanked Virtus Entella for letting him train with them and will “make a decision” in a few days.
