Milan pick Begovic for Reina

Multiple sources in Italy claim Milan’s first choice to replace Aston Villa-bound Pepe Reina is Asmir Begovic from Bournemouth, ahead of Joe Hart and Lukasz Fabianski.

Reina is all set for a move to Aston Villa, on loan with option to buy, but first the Rossoneri want to have a replacement secured for their understudy to Gianluigi Donnarumma.

According to MilanNews, Radio Rossonera and Sky Sport Italia, the hot favourite is Begovic, whose loan deal with Qarabag just expired.

West Ham's Gabigol bid rejected

West Ham United’s offer for Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa has been rejected by Inter, claim Italian reports, as they wanted him on loan with option to buy.

The Brazilian was purchased from Santos in 2016 for €29.5m and struggled both at San Siro and on loan at Benfica.

He returned to Brazil on loan and truly hit form for Flamengo, taking them to the league title and the Copa Libertadores with 34 goals in 43 games.

Although Flamengo are eager to keep hold of him permanently, they have not been able to agree terms with Inter.

West Ham target Gabigol

Flamengo’s offer of €16m plus 20 per cent of a future sale does not convince Inter, so Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa is courted by West Ham and Crystal Palace.

For several months now, Flamengo have claimed there is a deal in place to sign Gabigol on a permanent basis after his hugely successful loan spell.

However, Inter always warned they hadn’t yet reached an agreement for the buy-out clause and are prepared to sell him to the highest bidder.

According to Sky Sport Italia and La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Premier League club was eager to keep Maresca in his role as assistant manager, or at least remain in the coaching staff once new boss Moyes was brought in.

There had even been suggestions in Italy that West Ham wanted Maresca to take over as manager, until the decision was made to bring back Moyes for a second stint.

English interest in Kessie

Milan midfielder Franck Kessie could leave for the Premier League if West Ham United or Wolverhampton Wanderers pay €20m, according to the Corriere dello Sport.

Kessie was a staple of Rino Gattuso’s Milan side, but has fallen down the pecking order in recent times, first under Marco Giampaolo and now Stefano Pioli.

The Rome daily suggests that if Milan were to receive a reasonable offer for the Ivorian in the winter transfer window, a figure around the €20m mark, they would agree to a sale.
