Lampard: 'Very happy with Jorginho'

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has assured Jorginho that he remains an important player for the club. ‘I’m very happy with him.’

Jorginho has made just one cameo appearance for Chelsea since the Premier League restarted, but he has a route back into their starting XI after Billy Gilmour was ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee injury.

“I have selection issues in midfield. Good issues because I have N’Golo Kante, Billy Gilmour, Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic,” Lampard told Sky Sports News.

Chelsea to sell Jorginho?

Jorginho has reportedly informed Chelsea that he is unhappy at the club, with Maurizio Sarri still ‘keen’ to bring the midfielder to Juventus.

Jorginho was a virtual ever-present for Chelsea before the coronavirus lockdown, but since the season restarted he has played just 10 minutes of the Blues’ five games.

Now, Goal.com claims the 29-year-old is ‘unhappy’ with his current situation at Chelsea, given teenager Billy Gilmour has seen more game time than him.

Jorginho: 'Chelsea fans picked on me'

Italy international Jorginho admits he thought about leaving Chelsea after the fans were ‘picking on’ him, but ‘it gave me strength because I knew they were wrong.’

The midfielder, born in Brazil and moving to Italy as a teenager, made the transfer from Napoli on the same day as coach Maurizio Sarri.

“Last year, fans were picking on me a lot because I’d arrived with another manager and, in my opinion, I ended up hearing some things that were honestly unfair,” Jorginho told FourFourTwo magazine.

Lampard: 'Giroud could leave'

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard admits Olivier Giroud could join Inter this month. “If it’s right for everybody, then we’ll look at whether he can leave the club.”
