Agent: Immobile great for Milan, but…

Ciro Immobile’s agent claims the Lazio striker would be ‘a great signing’ for Milan – but only if the club address their ownership problems.

Immobile had emerged as a target for Milan, who are in the market for a goalscorer, but while Alessandro Moggi could see his client at San Siro, he made it clear a deal could not happen until the Rossoneri found stability.

Berisha another Lazio diamond

Lazio fans ought to be very excited at the arrival of versatile Valon Berisha from RB Salzburg and Daryl Hammond explains why.

The most enticing thing about Lazio's signing of Valon Berisha from RB Salzburg may not be the goals or the creativity, but the price.

At a reported €8m, he represents extremely good value, with Berisha himself stating that both Newcastle United in the Premier League and Sampdoria were interested. It is one of many coups sporting director Igli Tare has pulled off during Simone Inzaghi’s tenure, which include Ciro Immobile, Luis Alberto and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

Lazio block Milan target Immobile

Although rumours persist of Milan interest, it’s reported Ciro Immobile will sign an improved contract with Lazio and won’t be sold for under €60-80m.

Sky Sport Italia and Tuttomercatoweb are among the sources that continue to insist Immobile is the first choice for Rossoneri, even after the Financial Fair Play problems that saw them excluded from the Europa League.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Capocannoniere won’t be allowed to leave unless a proposal worth €60-80m arrives.

Felipe Anderson is in negotiations with West Ham United, while Milinkovic-Savic has attracted offers from Juventus, Manchester United and Real Madrid.

Atletico want Milan’s Kalinic?

Atletico Madrid are reportedly interested in signing Milan forward Nikola Kalinic.

The Croatian has endured a frustrating season for both club and country. Having signed from Fiorentina on an initial loan deal last summer, he scored just six goals in his first year with the Rossoneri and fell out with Coach Gennaro Gattuso.

Recently, he was sent home from Croatia’s World Cup squad after allegedly refusing to come on as a substitute due to injury fears.

Report: Immobile in Milan talks

Lazio striker Ciro Immobile told Milan he is open to a transfer, even if they don’t get into Europe, according to Sky Sport Italia.

Transfer guru Gianluca Di Marzio insists the Rossoneri are working on Immobile and he has given the all-clear.

However, that is a very long way off a deal being done, as Lazio are notoriously tough negotiators and would not be willing to lose their top scorer.

Italy fans mustn't be delusional

It’s tempting to believe Italy could’ve made a big splash on a low-quality World Cup, but Giancarlo Rinaldi won’t get lulled into that trap.

It is one of the great duplicities that football fans love to indulge in. Even when our team has long been knocked out of a competition we tell ourselves that the fates could have been so much different.

I have known people - myself included - who have plotted the course to imaginary semi-finals and finals even when our favourites departed the scene many rounds before. But any Italian fans seriously entertaining such fantasies this summer would be well advised to take a dip in some icy Dolomite stream to wake them from such reverie.
