Reports: Madrid go for Reina

Speculation is intensifying in Spain that Real Madrid are ready to pounce for Milan goalkeeper Pepe Reina.

A substitute shot-stopper may be needed at the Santiago Bernabeu as Keylor Navas wants out.

Now, according to AS, Reina is Madrid’s first choice to fill that role.

The 36-year-old is currently No 2 at Milan, but the newspaper is adamant he would accept playing second fiddle to Thibaut Courtois.

Dzeko turns up for Roma

Edin Dzeko has turned up for his Roma medical, amidst speculation linking the striker with Inter.

Roma’s non-internationals already underwent medical tests for the 2019-20 campaign last month, with Steven Nzonzi the biggest name not to attend.

However, there was no such controversy with Dzeko, who joined Antonio Mirante, Aleksandar Kolarov, Patrik Schick and Robin Olsen in reporting for medicals on Monday.

Belotti & Mirante in Italy squad

Torino striker Andrea Belotti and Roma goalkeeper Antonio Mirante have been called up to the Italy squad for their upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers.

Belotti is rewarded for his strong end to the season with Torino, as has Mirante since replacing Robin Olsen in Roma’s goal.

There is also a first call-up for Atalanta shot-stopper Pierluigi Gollini, with a thigh injury ruling out Milan’s Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Roma walk towards Trapp

Roma have definitively dropped Robin Olsen and put him on the market, so it’s reported Kevin Trapp is the main transfer target.

Caretaker manager Claudio Ranieri confirmed in his Press conference yesterday that Olsen would be on the bench for the second game running, shelved in favour of veteran Antonio Mirante.

He was purchased last summer to replace Alisson Becker, but proved to be a flop and a very unpopular figure with fans due to some rather obvious errors.

“Santon will have tests today and I’m afraid it’s something bad,” continued the Coach at his Press conference.

Roma: Pastore out, Mirante in?

Roma will reportedly be without Javier Pastore against Porto on Wednesday, while Antonio Mirante could start ahead of Robin Olsen in goal.

The likes of Gazzetta dello Sport and Pagine Romaniste suggest Pastore’s left calf has flared up again, ruling him out of the trip to Porto.

It comes after his former sporting director Walter Sabatini claimed the midfielder was ‘embarrassing’ him with his lack of impact for Roma.

According to Sky Sport Italia, initial tests point to him being unable to recover in time for this game.
