Preziosi: ‘I’ll set Piatek price’

Genoa President Enrico Preziosi warns he’ll set the price for Krzysztof Piątek - “those who want him will have to be serious and talk to me”.

The Polish striker has been on fire scoring for his country over the international break to add to 13 goals in eight games for the Grifone.

“There’s no release clause, I never usually include one,” Preziosi told Gazzetta dello Sport.

Preziosi: ‘I’m not crazy’

Genoa President Enrico Preziosi defends his decision to sack Davide Ballardini and bring back Ivan Juric - “believe me, I’m not crazy”.

In a surprise move this week the Italian was sacked, despite having won three of the last five games and his side sitting three points off fourth with a game in hand.

Juric, who has already been sacked twice and has a win record of 25 per cent with the Rossoblu, was brought back to replace him.

Ballardini, third time not the charm

Davide Ballardini has been fired by Genoa for the third time, although 2017-18 was the first time he started a season at Marassi.

The tactician was given the push today and replaced by his predecessor Ivan Juric, despite picking up four wins and three defeats in seven rounds.

It’s not a new experience for Ballardini, who hasn’t seen out a complete season since Sambenedettese in Serie C in 2004-05.

Report: Genoa sack Ballardini

It’s reported that Genoa will sack Davide Ballardini, bringing back last season’s Coach Ivan Juric.

The Grifone were battling relegation last season before appointing Ballardini for a third spell on the bench.

The Ligurian side currently sit 11th in Serie A, and have won three of their last five matches.

Despite that, Sky Sport Italia is reporting that President Enrico Preziosi has decided to sack Ballardini following the 3-1 home loss to Parma at the weekend.

‘Marotta has another job lined up’

Genoa President Enrico Preziosi claims departing Juventus general manager Beppe Marotta ‘told me he already had another club’.

Barcelona, Manchester United, Roma, Napoli and even Inter have been mentioned as possible next stops for Marotta, who will leave Juve at the end of the month, and Preziosi seemingly confirmed the 61-year-old was staying in club football.

“He told me that he already had another club,” he said from the offices of Lega Calcio on Monday.

‘Selling Piatek is crazy talk!’

Genoa President Enrico Preziosi has affirmed that the club will not sell Krzysztof Piatek in January. “Just thinking about it is crazy!”

Piatek has been a revelation since joining Genoa over the summer, netting eight Serie A goals in his opening six appearances to already lead the scoring charts, but his form has inevitably fuelled speculation that the Grifone could cash in while his stock is high.

Nonetheless, Preziosi told reporters: “Just thinking about it is crazy!

‘Piatek like Motta & Milito’

Genoa owner Enrico Preziosi admits ‘I went for Krzysztof Piatek after a couple of videos’ and compares his arrival to those of Thiago Motta and Diego Milito.

Piatek has made an immediate impact for Genoa, scoring seven goals in his first four appearances for the Grifone, and Preziosi expects the Pole to emulate two of his ‘great buys’.

“Piatek is a very strong 23-year-old. I went for him after I watched a couple of videos of him,” he told Corriere dello Sport.

Preziosi: Piatek won’t join Napoli

Genoa President Enrico Preziosi has ruled out ever selling Krzysztof Piatek to Napoli. “History shows no deal is possible.”

Piatek has already been linked with Napoli after firing seven goals in his first three appearances for Genoa, but Preziosi made it clear on the Grifone’s 125-year anniversary that the striker ‘still has to prove his worth’.

‘Napoli could have got Perin’

Genoa President Enrico Preziosi says Napoli were “too late” to sign Mattia Perin, and is sad to see him on the Juventus bench.

The Partenopei were linked with the goalkeeper this summer, but he ultimately moved to Turin for €12m plus €3m in bonuses.

“We pointed out that there was the possibility of Perin, but Napoli were after [Bernd] Leno,” Preziosi confirmed on Radio Marte.

“The Azzurri even made a bigger offer than Juventus did, but by then it was done with the Bianconeri.
