Preziosi: ‘Rossi is a champion’

Genoa President Enrico Preziosi says Giuseppe Rossi is “a great champion” who “deserves a new opportunity”.

The striker will join the Grifone in the coming days, having recovered from the latest in a series of serious knee injuries.

“He’s a great champion and an exceptional lad who deserves a new opportunity,” Preziosi told Gianluca Di Marzio’s website.

“I’ve been following him for a couple of years and I hope he can do well for us, more for his sake than ours.”

Report: Genoa sack Juric

It’s widely reported that Genoa have decided to sack Ivan Juric, but are still negotiating with potential replacement Davide Ballardini.

The Grifone are in the relegation zone after just one victory this season, three draws and eight defeats.

The final straw was last night’s 2-0 loss to local rivals Sampdoria in the Derby della Lanterna.

However, according to several sources, the dismissal won’t be announced until after they have agreed terms with his replacement.

‘Juric? Results are important…’

Genoa President Enrico Preziosi is “convinced Ivan Juric is a great Coach” but “results count…”

The Croatian is under pressure on the Grifone bench after just one win in the first 11 Serie A games, and he could be fired if they lose the derby with Sampdoria this Saturday.

“I won’t talk about his future,” Preziosi said in an interview with Il Secolo XIX.

Preziosi acquitted of tax evasion

Genoa President Enrico Preziosi has been acquitted of tax evasion by the appeals court.

The Grifone President and CEO Alessandro Zarbano were charged in 2013 for the alleged non-payment of €8m worth of VAT.

Preziosi was initially found guilty and sentenced to a year and six months in prison, with Zarbano getting a year.

However, the pair had already begun paying the revenue back in installements, which the original trial should have taken into account, but didn’t.

Both have therefore been acquitted on appeal.

Perinetti has also worked for the likes of Napoli, Juventus, Siena, Palermo and Bari.

Genoa stand by Juric

It’s reported Genoa will stand by Coach Ivan Juric, as they’re unconvinced by his potential replacements.

The Croatian is under immense pressure after a poor start to the season, and it was expected he’d be let go if the Grifone lost to Bologna over the weekend.

Juric’s side were beaten 1-0, but Il Secolo XIX reports that, after a period of reflection, President Enrico Preziosi has decided against making a change on the bench.

Preziosi: 'Genoa sale fell through'

President Enrico Preziosi confirmed this evening that the Genoa sale to the SRI Group and Giulio Gallazzi has fallen through.

Due diligence was completed and Preziosi demanded €120m to sell the oldest club in Italian football, but SRI were reportedly wary over substantial debts.

Preziosi spoke to Primocanale on Thursday night and revealed the negotiations were never as advanced as previously thought.

“I don’t know what happened on their end, but I do know that at a certain point we believed it could go through,” said Preziosi.
