Maran: 'Chievo rediscover confidence'

Rolando Maran hopes Chievo “rediscovered our confidence” after ending their 10-round negative streak with a 2-1 win over Cagliari.

The Flying Donkeys hadn’t won in Serie A since November, picking up just two points in 10 rounds.

“We went through 1,000 problems, but with a wonderful performance we rediscovered our confidence,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

Giaccherini revives Chievo

Emanuele Giaccherini transformed the game, providing a goal and assist for Roberto Inglese, as Chievo beat Cagliari for their first win since November.

The Flying Donkeys finally ended their dismal run with a hard-fought victory at the Stadio Bentegodi.

Alessio Cragno performed heroics on two Inglese headers and was almost caught out on a Leandro Castan back-pass.

Napoli hope for Politano revived

Sassuolo have for the first time opened the door to sending Matteo Politano to Napoli, according to Sky Sport Italia.

Until now, the Neroverdi have been absolutely adamant in their refusal to even discuss selling Politano in the January transfer window.

Maran left with Chievo regrets

Rolando Maran saw “an incredible performance” from Chievo, making the 1-1 result against Udinese all the more frustrating.

They had dominated the first half and gone in front through Ivan Radovanovic’s scorcher, then saw a second ruled marginally offside, but Nenad Tomovic scored an own goal to level it.

“Above all in the first half, we put in an incredible performance,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

Napoli push for Verdi

Napoli are pushing for Simone Verdi, so Roberto Inglese could remain at Chievo until the end of the season, reports suggest.

The Partenopei have already signed Inglese, but they loaned him back to the Flying Donkeys for this season.

It was expected that he would join up with Maurizio Sarri’s squad six months early, but it appears the club may now have switched their attention to Verdi.

Inglese: ‘Napoli to test myself’

Roberto Inglese admits “I don’t know if I’ll be up to it” at Napoli, but the Chievo striker is keen to test himself.

The forward was bought by the Partenopei in the summer, but they loaned him back to the Flying Donkeys for the rest of the season.

Now though it’s expected he’ll move to the San Paolo in January, possibly with Arkadiusz Milik moving the other way.

“I’m owned by Napoli, so sooner or later I’ll go,” Inglese said in an interview with La Repubblica.
